About This Mod
Long War of the Chosen compatible port of [WOTC] Blutengel Soldier Class that adds an 8th rank and a full AWC skill tree.

A brand new class, in the style of the [WOTC] Proficiency Class Pack classes.

Introducing, the Blutengel! This class is designed to be a vicious front line fighter, both delivering and taking brutal blows. Wielding Shard Guantlets and Ballistic Shields, this unit can deliver powerful psionic and melee strikes while sustaining itself through regenerative effects.

Built from the design philosophy of the great Mitzruti (and Grimy before them), this class embodies one of the more unique designs present in Mitzruti's Perk Pack: HP as a cost and the blood curse damage over time effect.

Almost all the perks in this class are from the Perk Pack or are clones of Perk Pack abilities with HP costs added to them.

Skill Trees
Märtyrer (Martyr): This tree focuses on shielding allies and sustainability.
Geisterjäger (Spirit Hunter): This tree focuses on melee skills and brutalizing the enemy.
Seuchenträger (Plaguebearer): This tree focuses on cursing enemies and dealing psionic damage.

**NOTE: Does NOT require [WOTC] Proficiency Class Pack, but it is strongly recommended for maximum fun.

Known Oddities and Issues
  • Ballistic Shields + Templar Gauntlets makes for some interesting visuals as the soldier uses the two of them together. All skills and buffs work, though, so just enjoy the ride or switch over to One Handed PsiJacks by MrCloista to have a shard gauntlet that is designed to work with shields.
  • Sword & Board may not always use the gauntlets for the first attack, but the damage is right even if the animation shows the shield for the first attack.
  • Regenerate will NOT trigger off of paying HP as a cost, but will trigger any time damage is taken, such as from a Damage Over Time effect, like Burn or Poison.

tried the original MZ abilities, they have proper effects. could you pls fix this ?

not sure why, the blood abilities work, but is missing effects in animation? for example the blood version of null lance, there is nothing being shot but afterwards there will be blood fog on the map

The PsiJack is the same weapon category as the Shard Gauntlet. So just like you can equip Shard Gauntlets on Blutengels you can equip PsiJacks on Templars.

Psijacks also appear for the templar. Is it possible that it only shows up on the Blutengel?
do you think it has anything to do with
RequiredSoldierClass=“Templar” in XComWeaponTuning.ini of MrCloista's mod?
if that's the case, what should I put instead?

@Argyre The short answer is no. The Blutengel is designed to consume HP, which means that there WILL be a healing period after each battle. BUT! One of the base perks of the Blutengel is a skill called Bloodied Shroud (it is part of the Proficiency skill) that reduces all healing times for the soldier. The amount of time the Blutengel is out of commission should be on par with a normal "tired" cycle.

Please tell me what to do if, after applying HP-consuming abilities, blutengel immediately goes to the hospital with an injury? Is there a limit on the health used for abilities without getting injured?

I apologize for the inconvenience of this setup. There is a significant amount of effort that has to go into renaming a project. The amount of skills this version uses from LW is actually very minimal. You should be able to use this version in a non-LW game with minimal issues (there will be a couple missing perks in the XCOM row and a "useless" pistol row since they cannot use pistols) but the core perks for the class itself will still be there and will work just fine.

If I occasionally play non-LWotC, merely installing this mod creates a duplicate ID with your other WotC class. Enabling the non-LWotC one also enables this one which requires LWotC...

Can you rename your old one's ID?
