I'll remove the background again in the next update. It's currently a placeholder to test how the backgrounds work. As far as I know, I can't add an option for the background. I'll see if I can find a solution for the future.
But please note, if you want to play vanilla, disable the mod. The mod also changes the behavior of the vanilla files. For example, it removes most of the in-game map items and will add new Manhattan maps in the future. The same applies to flyers, newspapers, radio, etc. (in the future, not currently).
I totally get not being a graphical designer but trust me when I say most people would be significantely more receptive even if you just used a nice screenshot of somewhere on the map. It will look better and will actually sell the quality of your work to people at a glance.
