In addition, there are only so many people who would actually want rule of cool or You See Ivan reloads, while the rest prefer their guns to at least vaguely match real life. (Some people couldn't actually tell you how a gun works in the first place any way.)
It's possible to make silly animations fit to length, but it's difficult, and at the whim of the animator. If nobody wants to animate flipping revolvers or flying magazines, you won't see them. I don't know how Tooti (sorry about the name) prefers to do his stuff, so I can't speak for him on that.
Some sequences, like equip animation and chambering round (after reloading), are more forgiving. So, if i had wanted to make more "tricky" animations, I would have been possible to do that. I wanted to have more down to earth animation instead of more action packed ones (given that the gun model has stock and longer barrel, I personally think it was a good decision).

It is said that Arnold Schwarzenegger almost broke his fingers when he tried to flip-♥♥♥♥ the one with a normal lever. He just screamed at his fingers afterwards and they fixed themselves and everything was alright.
