I couldn't follow the "How I made my custom textures work online" guide.
I opened UE Explorer 1.3.5
Then grabbed the GUID
Then converted it and grabbed the right value. But I can't find that value in my custom .utx file, so I can't replace it with the original.

Maybe its because I'm use linux and I run this UE Explorer through Wine , and doing it like that screws something up. Maybe. I'm still confused with how these things are done.
Even if I managed to change GUID, the file sizes will probably be different and I don't really know how to deal with that.

I am happy with what I've done so far though.

You can try to replace KF_Weapons3rd_Trip.ukx file back to original. If it didn't work for you then try to revert other packages to see if the issue is gone. Other than that I can't do anything about it unfortunately.

I've noticed that this mod makes Zeds animations broken, Husks don't play their charging up animation, Fleshpounds don't do their enrage roar, and the patriarch doesn't do his intro animation.

As I've mentioned before there is a guide by Psyke that helps with making client-side mods. It is named "How I made my custom textures work online. No mutator. GUID." and this guide also works with any other packages, not just texture-related. If you're going to follow it then read comments as well as they have additional useful info about the whole process.

You're right that i had to choose the kf_weapons_trip.ukx file in the game's files instead of the one that comes loaded in the SDK. But even if the change in file size is as small as 394 B, it won't let me into servers.

The servers tried to redownload the file , which was painfully slow so I wasn't able to join the servers.

My other modified animations for SCAR, Your AKM (Which are in KF_Weapons2_Trip.ukx) and FAL do work on those servers and it doesn't redownload the files, even though there is a difference in file size.
Mr. ChatGPT warned that Killing floor packages are digitally signed, but I'm not sure what that means.

I think you're trying to compile the package that was automatically opened up by SDK. You have to manually open the file you want to edit first and only then add your own changes into it. Otherwise the package won't have all the files it originally had after saving.

Because I remember making a grenade replacement and one of the mesh packages did not have all the meshes listed for some reason. After the compilation I hopped in KF-WestLondon to test my mod and all I saw was a map full of missing geometry. And, well, I didn't check the total size but I'm pretty sure it had a very little.

Talking about the issues, was it not letting you to join at all or were servers trying to replace your files?

I did manage to change ADS animations for SCAR, FAL and even your AK. All of them are less shaky when shooting now. (Thank you for the AK model, it looks preferable to the original)


But my issue is when I try to edit animations for a gun in KF_Weapons_Trip.ukx, and repackage the edited animations, the file size ends up being much smaller than the original, which leads to me not being able to join servers. It's strange, do you know why that is the case ?

Huh, did you rename them afterwards so they won't have "_AKM" at the end of the names? Honestly I can't say what could potentially go wrong there.

Yup I did follow the guide. I replaced all the files but it still doesn't change the ak. I dunno if I might be doing something wrong maybe?

I'm noticed that the Husk firing animations are broken, i didn't replace KF_Weapons3rd_Trip.ukx cause that's the file that causes issues right ? Or am i missing something.

There is a good guide made by Psyke afair, it explains how to make client-sided mods for textures but it will work out for pretty much anything really. You may encounter some problems during online play but so far 1st person animations I replaced didn't break KF1 server gameplay in any form.

I want to edit ADS animations of SCAR and FAL to make them less shaky so you can tap fire them.
I tried editing 9mm pistol's ADS animations without any experience, and it actually worked.
It also replaced the idle and reload animations in the process though.

But I can't join most servers, they re-install the .ukx file I replaced. (very slowly, never actually managed to join one because it downloaded too slow.)
I could join those servers with your AKM skin though.
Why is this happening ?

Well kinda. If you're not using 3rd person model replacement it'll be fine. When you replace one then the game will break but not so hard, specifically zeds' special attack animations stop playing. Here I won't be able to fix it as for now. From what I've seen myself and heard from other people it is safe to edit 1st person models and textures. The method I was using was exactly the same you would normally do with textures.

This might be the first ever client side model mod that works online without breaking the game in some aspect. Great job. Would love to know how it was done, always wanted to do 1st person viewmodel mods for this game.

there was a small model bug I saw on the magazine when you reload there's like a floating dot model.

Well, I realised that right now the mod is having issues with online as well but not in the same way as you described. From my perspective it is being replaced with original files when trying to join any server.

Neat! Did you run into any issues online like zeds becoming invisible, wrong sounds playing, certain models being wrong, or some really gnarly desync/lag? I tried making my own client side mods but I could never find out the cause of these issues other than ruling out the file size not being exact from the guide I was following
