♥♥♥♥ it, half life does retcons all the time, so point taken. Im just kinda mad that opfor changed the hecu as a faction up a bit and theyre ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lame. For real though i dont think the expansions are canon since they were developed by gearbox and theres like zero mention of them anywhere in the half life games that came after it even though hl2 loved making references to hl1. Theyre just side dishes that valve never really cared about.

Headcrabs and barnacles look different in hl1 and hl2 so they must be different timelines

headcrabs in hl2 and hla look different to the ones in hl1 so might as well be an alternative timeline /s

its just that the hecu in opfor is so different that it might as well be an alternative timeline where helmets are even more scarce and realized that they dont need walkie talkies to talk up to 10 meters away
