But as a result I could not get the VR controller to do anything other than accelerate and brake.
This is also the reason why the side brake does not work properly when using simphys. I wonder what on earth could be causing this...

Perhaps you have not been able to enter vehicle mode correctly. If you are using vrmod-semioffcial, please try to change the Vehicle mode from VREaddmenu to [LFS/TANK] once and then back to [simfphys/HL2Jeep] again.

Does this support turning the engine on/off, and shifting gears? I have manual engine toggle enabled as well as manual transmission.

This mod works with HL2-default and simphys.
It also works with some tanks by simphys-armed, but mods that seem to only accept keyboard handle controls can only move forward or backward.

I know, it may sound redundant. But it's not working, my hands are still locked to the steering wheel and I have to use the joystick, am I missing something here? Everything else is working and is fine, but this mod won't work.

Nevermind, I got it to work. I just had to subscribe to VRExtensions base, then click the VRE addmenu button on the left hand that pops up when you hold the right menu button, then set vehicle mode to normal.

I tried reinstalling gmod and it still doesn't work. I think the update to the vr mod semi-official patch that was released on feb 2 might have broken this addon.

It isn't working for me. I get in a car while using VR, and I tried pressing all the buttons on my vive controllers and the car went nowhere.

I wanted to be able to run Raemien's simphysfix at the same time, but the override fails. So if you want to use this mod with simphys, please disable this mod.

Would it be possible to have the hand movements translate to mouse movements when using a car, so that it could use the mouse steer on simphys?

Alright, I tried it out.

It operates more like a joystick than a steering wheel, but it still works very well as another way to steer. The only issue is that on my controllers (Oculus Touch) the grip buttons are also tied to the USE key, so gripping again brings me out of the vehicle unless I keep holding grip while getting into the vehicle in order to steer.

Unfortunately, it does not currently work with simphys. I'm dying to get it working too, but I can't seem to get the simphys handle to work in the same way as this mod, so it's trial and error!
