Oh, and unlike most people, I'm not using Terraria Overhaul.

I'm having performance issues with this mod too. Without it, the FPS doesn't drop below 60, but when I activate it, the FPS drops to 50 even when standing still at the spawn point. This happens even with reverb and all other options disabled. What's strange is that only the ambient sounds shouldn't be heavy; very strange.

I also noticed heavy heavy frame drops with terraria overhaul and this mod. Going from 70-80 fps down to 55. Which extremely sad because i love the sounds from this mod. Im using linux as well.

Please try using a profiler to find out deeply what is going on, if you can.

So I noticed the significant performance issues others mentioned that only appeared when this mod was enabled (I went from a stable 60fps to a choppy ~50, despite hardware resources barely being used). However I think I've narrowed it down to some kind of incompatibility with TerrariaOverhaul. Without TO enabled TA's performance hit seemed to go away, and vice versa.

Unfortunately even if you disable all of TO's redundant ambience features the two mods just don't want to play nicely together, though nothing stands out in the logs. I tried it with the older version of TO here on the Workshop as well as a self-compiled version from their dev branch on github and both are impacted.

This was with fully updated native Linux builds of Terraria and tModLoader on AMD Ryzen 5 3600, AMD Radeon RX Vega 56, 32gb RAM.

@Casual my mod does not even touch npcs,so that seems unlikely

yeah so to follow up on that i disabled your mod and the game no longer has npc error messages and i finally defeated mechanical worm I hope this gets resolved because I really like your mod :) if you need logs for this issue I can provide them

idk if this mod is causing the crash or not but when I’m fighting say for instance mechanical worm at around 50% health he despawns and says npc error every single time and idk why

How to disable the "debug view"? Pressing F5 toggles it, but I can't see an option to change/disable that in controls or config.

I'm getting a straight up crash as well when trying to use this mod. No idea what's causing it, as I'm new to tMod Loader and modding Terraria in general, but so far, it's the only mod I've had difficulty with.

I used to rock this mod like 2-3 months ago but now it just crashes my game everytime i load into a world after fresh tmod install, i got so used to it so much so its now unplayable without 😭✌️

@MTFShadow it's because dynamic audio processing and calculations are not cheap computationally.

it's the kind of performance you don't see through video, you feel it. So you probably won't notice anything, it'll look like it's the same, but for me it's there. I mean I'm playing with like 43 mods, so It's probably because of that, maybe compatibility issues i guess.

Actually I'm trying it our rn again, it doesn't feel like I'm loosing performance rather it feels more like.. It's hard to explain man.
It feels like I have that one "high fps support" mod enabled right, and I get a little bit of screen tearing cos of the higher fps kind of feeling. Like I said it's hard to explain and weird because why a sound mod would do this..

this is a fantastic mod but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do I have problems with it for years now. I just can never play it man :( which sucks, cause it's so good. Now I'm having problems with framerate so that's an automatic disable (and yes I've tested it, it's this mod) I can feel the game being slower and I notice stutters too...

I love the inventory sound effects though and no sounds when buying/picking up items etc. Honestly you should make that an seperate mod. I'd insta download and hope I won't have issues with it. But it's sad I just can never play this mod man.

Oddly enough yeah running this on 1.4.4.9 drops frames and causes a consistent and annoying stuttering every 15 secs or so If you need any more info I am here. I have spent a decent amount of time isolating it to this mod. There could be a mod conflict but the only one that stands Terraria overhaul which does touch ambiance as well I have yet to test for this.

For me, the reverb/RT effects in caves are much louder than everything else, and also extremely boomy in the bass. The options don't seem to have a dedicated volume slider for this. Ideally, I'd also like either a slider to control an EQ rolloff past 500Hz-ish, or even a toggle for one that gently takes that edge off.

if you're dropping like 20 fps every 10 seconds and you don't know why then its probably this mod doing it

Whenever I reload the mod the Forest Jungle, and World Evils sections in Ambience Config are being set to default.

I love this mod, but it is incompatible with DawnMod and causes severe frame drops, from 60 to 30 FPS every 5 seconds, great mod, but until it gets fixed I will keep it uninstalled.

This mad causes pretty bad performance and fps spikes, without any lighting mods and just using texture packs. 7900 XTX graphics card, 7800x3d CPU, 64 gigs of ram. It sounds so nice, but its insanely hard to run

What are your computer specs?

This mod is causing severe stuttering just walking around, disabling it fixed the problem. Am not subscribed to any mods that change tick rate or FPS.

I don't understand what the "player widget is" that shows a "forecast". What's it forecasting? What's the widget supposed to be for?

@Zimon3283 i have the same issue, i tried to disable the mod because i didnt hear any music while fighting bosses, now my game freezes after picking up items

i have the same issue that Zimon3283 had, freezes my character when picking up items, so this is related to your mod

it shouldn't be that bad but yes there are lots of calculations going on

Is this mod know for being particularly performance heavy? I seem to be getting much lower fps with it installed.

i simply wrote what happened, fully removing it fixed the issues, maybe it was this mod in combination with a different one, i dont know. fact is, after removing it, the fps is back and the game isnt glitchy
