Introduction
This mod introduces powerful court positions, each representing a core pillar of your domain—the nobility, the bureaucracy, the military, the faith, and the common folk. These are not courtiers you can simply hire and fire at will; they are power brokers with deep roots in your lands, whose loyalty must be carefully managed.
-> These positions are not selected, but inherited by holder's family or dynasty
-> The concept is that the Powerful Courtiers are not "yours", but local power brokers
-> Their Faith/Culture are draw from your Domains, not from your character
-> Player-only: if you change rulers, the slots will be filled in about 4 months

Play Tall or Fall: Mostly designed to enhance the gameplay as a Count or Duke, this mod invites you to shift your focus from external expansion to internal affairs (domains).
NOTE: This mod adds a new layer of difficulty and complexity to the game!

-> Currently, the mod adds 10 unique Court Positions and over 20 tasks!
-> Also adds 3 new Interactions and almost 100 "Confront" events!



Features
  • Powerful Court Positions: Manage 9 powerful courtiers and their families, each deeply rooted in the fabric of your domain. They wield their own organic power and cannot be easily dismissed. Their cooperation is essential, not merely requested.
    -> Common: Powerful Nobles/Aristocrats, Claimant, Merchant and Monk
    -> Unique: Eunuchs/Knights(Treasury), Courtesan/Witch(Faith), Peasant/Adventurer(Gov)

  • Strategic Tasks: When a courtier is supportive, they unlock unique tasks that provide powerful bonuses at a cost, allowing you to plan your long-term objectives.

  • Manage Powerful Families: These characters demand privileges for their families as well. Marrying, employing, and befriending their relatives will improve their support (Aptitude). You can also Offer Bribes or Grant Privileges to ensure their loyalty.

  • A Living Ecosystem: Many of these new positions are generated along with their entire families (up to 3 generations), boosting your courtier count to an average of 40. On one hand, you will have a living court brimming with fresh talent; on the other, these powerful court positions demand salaries that will drain a considerable portion of your treasury.

  • Colored Backgrounds + Animated Portraits: Two defines lines were edited to allow animated portraits and change the background from black and white to a slightly colored shade, making the court positions more visually appealing.

  • New Interactions: to improve the "aptitude/support" of Powerful Courtiers:
    -> Confront Courtier: (Poor/Terrible) Triggers an event with multiple variations. Success increases aptitude for 10 Years. Failure means a lingering grudge, or even a rivalry.
    -> Board Game (Challenge to a board game)
    -> Cross Blades (Challenge to a sparring duel)

Compatibility
  • Compatible with everything: the purpose of this mod is to add flavor content.
  • It is designed to work alongside other mods that add new court positions or mechanics.
  • Should work fine with AGOT and everything else! (Major TCs)
  • Replaces kick_from_court_interaction. Rarely edited. Should not present any problems.
  • Savegame: It is safe to add to an existing savegame.
  • No DLC required!

Would it be possible to have some roles removed by game rule ? I noticed this problem with the ChatGPT flavor pack as well, except it's even more of a problem in this mod.
Basically in the flavor pack you can get around not filling every officer role added by it even if people will start grumbling and you get a cohesion malus, in this mod every role gets filled because "X knows there is no such thing as a power vacuum".
If i'm trying to RP a certain kind of character, why would i tolerate a "Mistress" or "Powerful courtesan" ? Is a question that's come to my mind, they are both great mods otherwise, i'm requesting if they can be made more granular

I dont think its important for the AI to use features in which it cant understand. The AI struggles enough already. They do not have human brains.

Does the AI use the new positions? Cause I tried changing over to the AI and they had everything empty, It only filled when I pressed play

Really cool mod concept, very excited to see where it goes. As it stands right now, three generations of rulers have each ended up in a position where it is hard to keep the roles filled after the previous holder dies. So some balancing on the spawn rate/aptitute requirements for the positions could use some work.

Glit: Dread is a modifier as well (cowed, terrified). But there is always a limit to how dreadful a ruler can be without suffering serious repercussions.

Why am I paying like 3 gold automatically to 3 randomly generated local somebodies? If they represent local power brokers then why do they spawn as if I'm just magically paying them a quarter of my income?

That's fair, but I feel like that should be scaled by dread, no? A noble would likely avoid pissing off their king if the king made a forest of impaled people knowing the noble might be next, for example.
