Abbey (2KOTH)

描述

You are on your way to...

Abbey

Abbey is a gothic, frostbitten map designed around fast rotations, high mobility, and coordinated play.

The map is like KOTH, but with two control points. You have to own both of them in order to count down your teams timer! The timer is only 1 minute and 30 seconds long, and points change hands frequently- be prepared to split up and control both territories!

Each control point is designed with different play in mind. Control point A is focused on long and horizontal play. Sniper has access to pretty strong angles, but none that are too abundant. To keep snipers in check, the layout around the capture zone offers plenty of mobility options for Scouts, Soldier, Demoman, and spies proficient at crouch-jump parkour.

Control point B on the other hand is a much tighter and vertically focused, with lots of peak-downs and balconies to spam out anybody defending it. There's lots of ways around this area to avoid sightlines, with several bunkers useful for Engineers and Heavies. The flanks around the capture zone are very circular in nature, so watch for Pyros getting the drop on you.

Finally, the center of the map features a church with a central launch pad. Using this pad will grant you access to lots of health kits as well as access to 4 different balconies facing both control points. This area is highly contested and fights can get pretty hectic, so be sure to watch all angles when fighting in or around it.

For the artpass, I tried to explore a frigid and bitter theme not often seen in TF2 maps while also being sure to keep elements familiar to TF2. You have classic spytech spawns, dynamic signposts - and if you keep a close eye - a few hidden spytech viewing areas. I also made sure the coating of snow was as close to the style of Viaduct as possible. The environment is lonely, rural, and agricultural, much like the maps featured on launch.

This layout comes from "Frankenizer," which I uploaded for Halloween this year. You asked for a version without gimmicks- so here it is!

I hope you enjoy. Please leave your thoughts or experiences on the map in the comments, I'm curious how people enjoy the 2koth mode.

This map has to be the best looking and atmospheric maps I ever seen. I love the stone castle feel to this map, combined with the snow makes it peak in my book.

I really appreciate the write up about your decisions on each point's gameplay and the art pass.

Fun map, had a lot of fun testing it last night. Absolutely gorgeous, as well, I kept stopping while playing to admire some of the cool aesthetic decisions around every corner.
