I would suggest to the modder, from the smoke grenade mod, to define all the smoke values that he requires for his mod. Otherwise, any mod that modifies the vanilla arty smoke will end up changing the way his smoke looks.
I've made a more detailed test, and found out when the cluster grenade are thrown out and it "generates" children grenades, just as the children grenades explode, a bunch of new children grenades are generated just at players' position, then explode and hit player.

The most that I've noticed is that the grenade generates a lot more sharpnel than regular grenades. Have you tried testing with only ACE3 and this mod? Perhaps something else could be the cause.
