Stats
Stiggity stats an' all that.
+50% more damage
Fires one bullet (No other projectiles)
+75% more accurate
-35% slower reload speed

Definitely might be interesting, although it would be epic if it could mini crit on headshot, with one of four nerfs:
-No random crits
-25% fire rate
-50 health on wearer
-50% primary ammo capacity on wearer

Another idea would be a recoil mechanic, or a zoom in mechanic, although I think that zooming in would make it more of a sniper weapon.

WE KNOW THAT! I'm just saying that this would probably be an interesting weapon to implement, and MAKE IT TAKE SKILL.
Oh, and I would love to point out that the phlogistinator exists.

I know this is an old thread, but how about:

The Makeshift Mauser:
- 15% damage penalty (as all the damage is in one bullet)
- Single Shot
- 20% slower firing speed
- Can only reload when clip is empty

+ Reloads its entire clip at once
+ 100% more bullets per shot

- 16% slower firing speed
- 25% slower reloading speed
- 50% smaller clip size
