Might be because of anything really, the game also has some memory leaking issues so don't load more than one world per game start, if you want to reload or load another world I suggest restarting the entire game. This isn't related to the mod in any way but lack of memory can cause freezes.

See if it happens in a new empty world with only this mod, if it doesn't then can you send me your world where it does freeze ?

I did a test with my CPU power limited to 5% and I don't get any freezes, crappy FPS but it doesn't drop frames so I'm not entirely sure how that can happen just when HUD is on (and which HUD btw did you mean, the helmet's HUD or the game's HUD ?)

Your PC specs would also help, CPU model, RAM amount and GPU model. Also do you have an SSD and if you do, is the OS and/or the game on it ?

Would also probably help if you mention how you have the mod configured (or just post the config) and if you play with the game's HUD on or off (not the mod HUD).
