On my end hiding quotes works fine, tried looking for the mod you referenced but i couldnt find it to see if it was causing issues. could you maybe link the mod perhaps?

Possibly the other mod is forcing the quotes to show; it doesn't have any option to remove them in its settings, and consequently, it's affecting your mod. Sorry for the trouble; your mod is very great, and I loved how it looked together with GTA SA WASTED mod.

I've been making a modpack, but I disabled all but those two and Hero's Mod, but the problem persists in my game

interesting and weird not gonna lie, if i find a solution to your problem i'll let you know. by the way, what language you using on tmodloader?

OMG DUDE, i'm so stupid, i thought that the quotes message was the death message in red that replace the message "you died" that show the cause of death , the other mod was only putting on top of that. I'm so sorry about this misunderstanding!!
As a slightly personal request, maybe could you later add the option to also remove the red death message? It would be a good option to combine with other mods, like one I saw that displays the Dark Souls death message.

Should I delete the entire conversation thread? It's not an actual bug, I was completely wrong about what I was saying lol

it's completely fine lol, i get it now, i'll add an option to disable the red text for ya. you can delete the thread if you feel like doing so.
