Atmospheric and intense. 5/5 stars.

The creator of Prague is back with an even better campaign. Early Days is set at the very start of the outbreak, and it really sells that tense atmosphere. Screams echo in the streets, news broadcasts show how quickly things are going to hell, and you can briefly meet a fellow survivor. Visuals are superbly detailed thanks to tons of custom assets, unique lighting, and color grading that helps this mod stand out. There's an entire custom soundtrack, too!

The intensity of the outbreak is also core to the gameplay. Crescendo events are tough as nails in this mod, especially during the running gauntlets. Chainsaws are sadly a necessity for some of the infinite horde events, but things never get too tough — supplies are plentiful and the level design is rock solid.

My only gripes are a few iffy sound effects and environmental repetition — it's "building, park, repeat" until you reach the finale in a nuclear power plant. Nitpicks aside, this is a must-play.
