Thank god. That would be a new low. So is anything themed as Nintendo getting purged or just assets?

While I 100% understand the original map creator's reasoning; it wouldn't make much sense for this map to receive a DMCA strike - especially considering that the only real Nintendo assets used here are less than a handful of sprites from Super Mario Bros 3. and Super Mario Kart.

Sprites that literally anyone could recreate in Aesprite in under a minute.

Just checked his TVTropes page, you are right he was 20 when he died. Still to damn young to go, but yeah. I was confused because I remembered reading something about him doing frequent stays in a children's hospital. Says on the page he fought that ♥♥♥♥ for like four years.

there's also The Internet Archive to look forward towards if you want another easily accessible repository, there's also others like GDrive, Dropbox, MEGA, etc. too but most people wouldn't use much of those latter examples other than the Workshop, GB and such.

Why not try to put a class action against the false DMCA'er or even point nintendo in his direction? because I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate the defamation caused by his actions.

uhhhhh yeah i mentioned internet archive already :D
its probably the best place out of them all, but still the first place for the files to be in is your physical drive

though now that this has been brought up, people need to know that this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ isnt isolated to just gmod or nintendo. i say ♥♥♥♥ copyright in its entirety. nintendo went as far as to strike a commodore 64 port of super mario bros, for example. i notice you guys reupload stuff which has been taken down, and i want all of you to stay safe. do any of you remember what rockstar did to an autistic teen who just leaked gta 6 source code and made videos? that's also dmca. they bought some corrupted ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lawyers, took over the court and sent that teen to a "hospital prison" for life... perhaps i should remind you of the gta 5 devkit leak? they sent a private investigator, threatened to "shut up", then the leaker's house was basically raided by some rockstar goons, took all of their stuff and never returned them, then on top of that they were also sued. or maybe do i really have to mention the nintendo gigaleak? i think we all know what happened afterwards. so if steam workshop is relatively safe to reupload to, thanks (not) to valve just silently removing stuff, reuploading in other places might actually be even more dangerous, i assume. but even then, valve could sue you as well, they're not just some forums anymore, they do commercial stuff like steam deck and valve index, blah blah blah. lastly, people in the gmod community might be too young to understand, but they need to fact check themselves just a tiny bit more often

edit: oh... they "took down" my post giving instructions on how to keep pirating and avoiding dmca's. and knowing that it wasnt an auto mod searching up key words, a literal human being sweeps through the discussions and silently removes stuff they find uncomfortably unprofitable for them
