storage aether interface
how do i get this item

As the name would suggest, it has something to do with the Aether biome (that's the biome where Shimmer is located). Go there, and the Automaton will have a new help tip about this item.

How do we pick it up? its now just floating in the air.

Yes, I traveled with the crafting storage interface to the Shimmer, threw it in, and it was floating in the air as if it had been placed — but I couldn't remove it. After saving and exiting and then loading back in, it was gone.

Magic Storage didn't add anything special other than registering the Shimmer interaction, so I'm not sure why you weren't able to pick up the item.
As for why it disappeared, Terraria doesn't save dropped items in the world when exiting it.

Nervermind, somehow either the mod is completly broken at my side or the world.
