Nope, by right, when you butcher any Humanoids ( Humans mostly), they should drop Gene seed along side their respective meat and leather

i think something in your mod list is over riding 'gene seed', i had a similar problem when i downloaded space marine stuff mod

i dont really see the cause of it, but i can assure you that it may be randomly sold in other settlements, Not common tho.

Only humans drop them, thats what i recall.
i have many other races in my world and Only humans will drop Geneseeds when butchered or harvested.

yea the only reason i found it is settlements can sell like 1 at a time but its like the rarest thing ever setting u back a nice 12k silver or randomy a raider might come with some in place of a drug
i ended up adding a recipe which i can only access by having some in the first place and then scanning it with a forge replicator from rimworld of magic

You can also just cremate them. This also works. 100% chance to produce a geneseed when you dispose of a human corpse. No need to fill up on human meat and leather if you don't want to.

One of the easiest ways to collect geneseeds is to just raid a camp of sorts (logging, mining, outposts/settlements, etc.) and have a ton of pack animals on you. Then just drag the corpses home to cremate or butcher them.

hi if you also have the adjustable trade ships, and let's trade mods, those can sometimes have a trader selling gene seeds too - i think i saw at least 15 from 1 trader, so those can help a bit too :)
