Long range information sharing works as follows:
1. The group enters combat
2. The group leader will after a few seconds-- provided he has time (ie, is ready and not suppressed)-- declare 'contact'. He will share information.
By default this range is quite small. 350 meters for any rank lower than sergeant. Units within 250 meters will be set to combat mode and given orders to turn towards the action. At neither stage are they given movement orders or orders to attack-- that is handled only by the native AI.
We intend to have a closer look at information sharing in the future. I am thinking that the default range is too short, and it may be more apprpropriate to disconnect the range feature from the rank.
