Yeah, I get this with Crystal Isles too, trying to find more of a Lake Van Monster or a Mothman. As far as I can tell, it only shows categories that it has seen when booting the map, and doesn't detect things that weren't originally spawned, but came back later. For example, I found LVM one day, captured one and the next day when I logged in, the LVM had no entry. It wouldn't make sense to let people search for things that would just clog the list with un-searchable entries.
You can probably check this out by confirming that there are no LVM, and then spawning one and refreshing the Finder query. It should show up.
