More than that, if you insert a name of a good fomated 6 material skybox the addon will detected the pieces and apply them - all with iduplicator support, so the saves can get the chosen skies and reaply them later.
Example instructions:
1) Download this skybox: https://gamebanana.com/textures/4446
2) Place in the addons folder (from both server and client);
3) Restart the game and the server;
4) Go to tool skybox textbox and write:
skybox/jungle_csgoft
You are going to see the material repeated. But remove the "ft" from the end of the name and try again...
skybox/jungle_csgo
Result: https://i.imgur.com/9LksdEa.jpg
But wait a little because the full custom skybox detection is only going to work in the next update, soon.
Anyway, you can see that if you copy a map material, change it with itself and them restore to the original state, for some reason the color gets darker. I don't know why it happens.
Thx for reporting, notes taken.
HL2 textures and their properties are in these .VPKs:
[...]\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\sourceengine\hl2_textures_dir (For Valve Texture Files - VTF)
[...]\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\sourceengine\hl2_misc_dir (For Valve Material Files - VMF)
You can use your own materials by correctly creating them[gamebanana.com] and placing in the folder:
[...]\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons\mystuff\materials
Change "mystuff" as you like.
Requirements:
- GCFScape[nemesis.thewavelength.net] to open .VPK;
- VTFEdit[nemesis.thewavelength.net] to edit/create .VTF;
(OR Gimp[www.gimp.org] with the gimp-vtf[github.com] plug-in)
- A nice text editor like Notepad++[http//Notepad%2B%2B] to edit/create .VMF.
