what year does Garry's Mod take place?
Garry's Mod takes place in late 1980s and early 1990s, since Bigcity is based on New York City and wtc is still standing, wtc Has Been collapsed in 2001

It depends on the map. Some take place in alternate universes, some take place in the future, in fictional universes etc. etc.

Bruh, this game is a sandbox, it only takes place when and where YOU want it to. Half life takes place in the early 2000's, Half Life 2 take places 20 years later.

Garry's Mod never had lore, and besides bigcity is not an official Gmod map, it's a map created by a user in the community

No lore it's a sandbox. If you want head canon, it takes place in a cosmic foam of infinite pocket dimensions outside of the known universe. So, there can't be a timeline, or lore. Every server is a pocket dimension of the respective host and can contain anything from any universe at any time which is why you see solid snake grinding on hl2 junk with a hoverboard.
