Real Gas Giants

Описание
Time to explore the other half of the solar system!

With this mod, you can create gas giant planets of unlimited size that are more than just a skin on a normal rocky planet. Explore rings full of asteroids and space dust, dive into the dense clouds of the planetary atmosphere, and harvest resources with external collectors!

Whether you want to lazily orbit Jupiter, set up a resource collection base in Saturn's rings, or evade your foes by diving into Neptune's crushing atmosphere, it's all here. So take them for a spin, because they do that too!

Features
1. New RealGasGiant planet with optional rings that can be colored and textured as desired. Both the planet and rings can be set to rotate at any desired rate. Rings can be resized and reoriented in various ways.

2. Approaching the gas giant body will blot out external visuals gradually as you descend into the clouds. At deeper levels light will fade out completely and both players and grids can be configured to take damage (Depth zone progression: Safe -> Dmg Player -> Dmg Airtight Spaces -> Dmg All Grids -> Destroy All Grids). Atmo thrusters and wind turbines will work within the atmosphere like they would on a normal planet.

3. Asteroids are removed from the space inside of the planet. They can also be limited to only appearing within the rings if desired.

4. Resources can be gathered with external collector blocks from within the rings and the atmosphere itself. Three resources can be set up per planet if desired. 1 for rings, 1 for upper atmo, 1 for lower atmo (on the edge of crushing depth).

5. Gas giant planets will block out the sun, affecting solar block output and planet visuals (same as Eclipses mod). Can be disabled. Gas giant model will also occlude the lens flare effect on the sun from a much larger distance than normal planets.

6. Fully compatible with my RealStars and RealOrbits mods.

Custom World Setup
1. Use the planet spawn menu (Shift+F10) to spawn whatever gas giants you want (RealGasGiant planet) at whatever positions you want. Save and quit.

2. Go to the save folder for the world and look for the Config.xml inside of the Storage folder (...\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\<SteamId>\<SaveGameName>\Storage\3232085677.sbm_RealGasGiants\Config.xml).

3. Edit the Config.xml to adjust the settings for the world and each individual gas giant. Make sure to set <OverrideFromConfig> to true. Save the file.

4. Enjoy exploring!

I'm not able to get anything atmospheric working on gas giants either, even if I go deep enough that my ship vaporizes.

you might not be deep enough, try going further down

unless you entered a pressure damage point and it still won't work, then something is borked

Seems like nor atmospheric thrusters or windfarm works in the gas giants, I cannot make them function in the planet's atmosphere!

Does this mod not work with modded ores anymore? It used to work and now out of nowhere all ores in the atmosphere cant be collected but the ores from the rings work

There is an option to change that effect in the RealGasGiants Config.xml. Set <OverrideFromConfig> to true and set <RingParticleLevel> to 1 for reduced particles or 0 for no particles.

that is not changable i think, but Ech can probably make it a new value to set, try increasing ring rotation speed, it might be tied to it

it's set in seconds btw so 7200 means 2 hours

Hi um, sorry if this is a little random but is there a way to slow down or remove the rock effects when in a ring? I ask because I love this mod but if I am in the ring for a certain amount of time I start to get nauseous and dizzy because of how fast everything is moving and spinning.

While I've got you, re: the thread on Asteroid Filter: Gravity - any details on how the gas giants' rings interact with the various Asteroid Filters?

1. Do the "Asteroid Filters" plugins have any effect on the Gas Giant rings' asteroids, or are they completely separate?
2. In particular, does Asteroid Filter: Grid Speed affect the rings? Playing with Real Orbits, i'm strongly suspecting asteroidal rings would be a no-go at orbital velocities if not 😅
3. How does the game-global 'asteroid density' setting from vanilla affect both of these together?
4. Does the "no astroids anywhere except the rings" feature of this mod work, or should that be avoided? (just out of curiosity; it feels redundant)
