i recently got a new 2k monitor, 1440p, so perhaps it pushes more quality
it will show you how limited the game and engine are
it's possible they didn't plan for this back in 2008/2009
it does seem to only be with oxxy's (yours) and certain maps
it's not always consistent, so perhaps it's a combination of things
it could also be caused by poorly optimized maps
it is only with these survivors and not others i use though
i guess i could just try oxxy's 2008, he claimed that was all 1K
And lastly, when will these new versions be released? About the same time GTA VI comes out (that's sarcasm) I don't want to give out a date and not live up to it, I have mod burnout and like always I will eventually become addicted to it again and that's when you'll get them. Making packs like these enhancing textures, optimising them, editing cg's and texture vtfs/vtms is an absolute chore to do. The only reward is the end prize.
Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk!
I WILL remake this using Oxxy's latest releases, mostly because I've used the original survivors myself since they've been available to download.
Regarding texture optimisation this stuff isn't my forte. I think 230MB for 4 models and 4K textures without them being turned into crispy messes is good already. Compare the size of other 4K mods on the workshop, some are larger than mine with just a single texture. I can't do anything about L4D2 being old and 32bit, I just set a goal of making these guys look the best they can (opinion, I'm 100% sure others could do much better.)
The dynamic light stuff I will look into as the attachments had to be changed in their CG files because of Cuba's jiggles. They do HAVE them so not sure what I'd need to do.
however, this contributes to reaching the limits of the engine or at least the game
left 4 dead 2 is still only a 32 bit application, which means a 3gb ram limit if even that
would you be willing to make an alternate version more optimized to prevent crashes?
might also benefit you as far as at least making sure you have the latest from Oxxy
"Dynamic light may not appear when you're holding molotov or pipe bomb. It's caused by custom survivor models that lack default attachment points, authors of such models may have removed or renamed attachments that are used by the addon."
Could this be fixed? Mod is perfect for me otherwise.
If you want the original attachment positions you could use oxxy's models and my textures/vmts if you unpack their vpk and mine and combine them.
The clipping isn't something I can fix unfortunately as I'm not knowledgeable enough to do that.
who simply want nothing but a good mod
they don't care about accuracy or versions,
they just want it because it looks cool,
so that's what is provided
I'm not bothered about accuracy or looks, I just love the models themselves and want them to look as best as possible (to a limit). I feel like they truly fit into L4D2 (yes 2) now.
further guessing, maybe they did originally have some before
so Holy Panda wanted to go... even... further beyond
Enjoy! These look even better now!
Already got the images enhanced just need to sort out and organize - Currently making nice pictures of my old doggo who passed
Fixed broken alpha transparency on her necklace... Less BEYTAH accuracy more PWETTY
These came out really well... Hope you enjoy!
You are an embarrassment to your family.
Just search vanilla-esque on the workshop if you want the original in the meantime
First time hearing of the beta survivors having a lightwarp at one point
happy to help support the beloved precious beta fixers and their fixes
Also I've added front-facing pictures for each survivor!
