Note that the subtitle files included do NOT contain subtitles for certain custom campaigns (e.g. Dead Before Dawn) that TLS added, and therefore replacing the caption file in the "update" folder will cause these to disappear. You can edit gameinfo.txt to add a new directory and placing the caption files in there, that way you'll have better subtitles and custom campaign subtitles.

Something to correct is that instead of "AC-130 Pilot" it should say "C-130 Pilot" since the AC-130 is the version used for air attacks while the C-130 is for use as transport, which is what is used in dead air: v

Okay, I think I realised it just now...
I had to replace the files in left4dead2_dlc1 and left4dead2_dlc2 too because these were over-ruling the ones from main folder. That is why survivors from L4D1 had no names by their text when other's had

Its written out on the line, we write it out in the captions file almost exactly as how you see it, bar stuff like <tags>.

So "<clr:255,168,85>Josh: Is everyone good to go?" would show up as

"Josh: Is everyone good to go?"

In a soft yellow colour.

Alternatively without a Name,

"[Door creaks]"

Would show up as

"[Door creaks]"

In pure white.

Question: How does "Name: Text" works? I noticed recently that in my subtitles it does not show who says a line (except for their colours). I was wondering if it is CC case, turning them on did not seamed to change much. Although when checking other group of survivors I noticed names being the case same, though not always + CC infected.

Would I be able to ask for help on a subtitle mod I'm trying to do?

hi author, did you use captioncompiler.exe to compile closecaption.txt into dat?
I used the captioncompiler.exe in the left 4 dead 2 🠖 bin path to compile, but the compiled file size seems to be wrong.

btw Nick's deathscreams 4-6 aren't coloured red but the rest are, seems like an odd thing to miss

Hello, I don't know if you do bug fixes or not but I have found one and wanted to share :

After replacing the files, etc..., when you go in-game and use "Hurry!" in the Orders radial menu, there is no subtitles shown.
I have tried to fix it myself but to no avail so I wanted to know if you could try to fix it if possible.

The cc token has to be the same as your gamesound's one

As for packing captions, they have to be installed manually, addons don't seem to be able to take priority over .dat's.

How do you get subtitles for custom lines in raw sound format to work without overriding update subtitles?
I tried to make a subtitles_english.dat but it doesn't seem to work.

There was a crash happen at Dark Carnival (C2M1) When Nick says "oh good now we can die there as a adul". Yes I test it, turning the subtitle before trigger nick the line prevent the crash, just to let you know, great subs tho still loving it
