Pressing forward decreases your jump height and limits trick ability. Pressing forward should really only be done on speed races or if you need speed BEFORE a jump.

Trick safety is on by default and does not let you start doing a trick unless you are above a certain height. This can be more confusing as sometimes you start flipping and sometimes you don't. Learning to do without trick safety will bring consistent results to your input.
