Poisonlander for an almost easy elite HC
Av Horus-fr
You are a new player in hardcore mode, you have no items and elite is very hard.
Here's a build made for you, you can beat the story in around 20 hours from level 1 to 55.
It's designed around poison and it's ability to decrease enemy damage.
The no1 goal here is to help you survive without having to grind for items.

4 GOOD REASONS TO READ THIS GUIDE
all played in elite hardcore from lv1
zero items taken from shared stash, everything dropped, bought & transmuted myself
POISON-GLAIVE OUTLANDER
It's a 100% poison, glaive throw & cursed daggers focus build.
Why poison ? The poisoned status reduces armor & damage by 33%.
Pros :
- skill based difficulty reduction by nerfing the monster damage
- skill based player healing, defense and buffs
- player level based damage (don't need good items)
- 2 cheap attacks that will take care of everything for you :)
- stone pacts will heal 2x more than if you play a regular dexterity/strength outlander
- synergies and skills combo, all skills work together
Cons :
- you can't rush your advance, your damage is linked to your level
- gameplay will be basic until 21 (one attack skill)
Gameplay description :
Summon repulsion hex -> knock melee units away
Stand on stone pact -> constant healing and damage reflection
Cast cursed daggers -> reduce monsters damage and do damage over time
Spam glaive throw -> auto-aim attack that will add another debuff
SKILLS OVERVIEW
cursed daggers 15
shattering glaive 15
venomous hail 15 (to kill goo and slime type)
long range mastery 6 (to boost venom hail)
shotgonne mastery 1 (i use a shotgonne for venom hail so why not)
glaive throw 5
dodge mastery 15
share the wealth 15
repulsion hex 15
stone pact 15
master of elements 15
CHARACTER BUILDING
The build is simple but effective.

Stats :
lv2 to lv5, +5VIT (will help equip better armor)
lv6 to lv100 +5FOC (our damage is directly linked to focus, our skills will give use enough crit+dodge)

Skill priorities :
- do not spend points on anything else than those skills, you will need all your points after lv21
lv1 glaive throw (keep at 1 until you reach act2, when you manage to get 9-12mp/s regen raise it to 5 but not more)
lv2-20 : dodge mastery > share the wealth > master of elements
lv21-27 : cursed daggers > repulsion hex > dodge mastery > share the wealth > master of elements
lv28-xx : stone pact > cursed daggers > repulsion hex > dodge mastery > share the wealth > master of elements
lv97-100 : max shattering glaive, it is incredibly powerful at 15/15 but does less damage than 5/15 glaive throw till then ><

You will have unused skill points that you can use however you like, if you plan to do tarroch tomb runs I suggest taking venomous hail 15/15 and the rest in long range mastery, glaive have one weakness, they fly above goo/slimes so you need something to clear those in tarroch tomb, you can have a poison/elemental pistol/shotgonne as secondary weapon and use venom hail.

A hint of the bonuses you get simply by using your skills :
lv15 21%critchance 35%dodge 17%castspeed -33%damage on mobs
lv20 22%critchance 38%dodge 18%castspeed -33%damage on mobs
lv30 23%critchance 41%dodge 19%castspeed -58%damage on mobs
lv100 26%critchance 58%dodge 22%castspeed -67%damage on mobs
ACT ONE part 1
Echo pass
lv2 +5vit +1 dodge mastery
lv3 +5vit + dodge mastery
for your info I tried to skip taking vit and just take foc from lv1, the result was that until lv9 I couldn't equip any of the armors I dropped, you really need those 25VIT early unless you want to play naked
Estheria
- as reward take the shotgonne, you will use 2 weapon sets for a while (shotgonne/cannon) vs melee allowing you to knock them away while regening your mana, (wand+shield) vs ranged.
- buy items with mana regen (if you see 1.4mp/s buy it even if you need to sell your scrolls and gems)
- get a shield with the max %block chance you can (up to 19%)
- buy and equip items with +health (you can buy 90-150hp items)
The shop inventory changes every 5 min you are out of town, go back and check their inventory as soon as possible.
Shops sell much better items than you are likely to drop, the more often you check them the easier the game will be.
To get the best items don't hesitate to buy items you can't equip yet (+5-7 levels is ok)
Path of the Honored Dead + Corrupted Crypt
- fiends, the multiplicating mobs, always kill them 1st or you can end up with 10+ of them very quickly
- skeletal generals move fast and do a ton of damage, retreat and kill them out of the range of other mobs
- heavy zombies hit really hard, stay away and shoot
- most dangerous champion : a ghost summoning infinite bats, target the ghost with glaive throw and spam the skill, retreat wait till you have enough mana and repeat
- before entering the boss room don't forget to portal back to town and buy mana/s or +health armorm parts
Boss fight : try to kill the minions and champion before aggroing the boss (kiting and having the pet on passive helps)
FALLEN GUARDIAN @lv6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTc_lSB2DXU
Temple Steppes
- the bear mages will summon an infinite amount of minions so try to target them 1st
- bear traps can 1shot you if you don't wear several +hp parts already, I suggest running through them to activate and disable them before you walk on one in the middle of a fight
- shielded melee are slow and you can't damage them until their shield is broken, last mob you should kill
- most dangerous champion : a mage bear casting fire spells (exploding mines+missiles) you can try to fight them in the open in temple steppes by avoiding their missiles but that'll be the only time, in the next dungeons either you run or you die
Bone Gallery
- I recommend doing it 1st,I find it easier than plunder cove and you have a chance to drop better items-potions.
- Before the boss go back check for mana regen,+hp items a better shield and have at least 15 mana/health potions, try to buy a wand that does something else than poison, mordrox is resistant to it and having a 2nd type of damage will help
Boss fight : spam mana potions and glaive throw non-stop,you must try to kill the two generals asap or they will follow you the whole fight, when they are dead shoot in that order the bow skeletons (right) the fire skeleton (left) then target mordrox, glaive throw will kill the trash mobs around him
MORDROX @lv12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJQD-gvj-iE
Plunder Cove
- try to attract only 1 skeleton general champion at a time as they will probably hit you for 30+% of your health
- the pistol champion will do 320+hp damage per hit you don't want to fight him around other mobs
boss fight : spam mana potions target one eyed willy
ONE-EYED WILLY @lv13 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcMEq__0YuI
Wellspring Temple
- using the shotgonne or cannon is over, the undead bears will shower you with missiles you need a shield with good %block chance to try and reduce the incoming damage also your focus should be high enough that a wand attack does good damage
boss fight : as usual, go back to town check shops, spam mana potions while targeting Grell, when you see him raise his fist try to dodge left or right, his flying fist is his most dangerous attack
GRELL @lv15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B47W2rxukw8
ACT ONE part 2
Crows' Pass & Widow's Veil
- before you advance to the frosted hills, you really need to have an acceptable amount of health, mana regen & a shield with 15-19% block chance
- most dangerous mobs : swarm of tiny spiders that come out of the webbed corpses found in that area, set your pet on passive for this part, advance slowly and don't run out of mana, glaive throw will quickly clear them if needed, don't dismiss them as a small threat, I once had to kill 80 to advance 3 screens ><
Boss fight : it has only one life-threatening attack, a huge smash, there's a "tell" but you have little time escape expect to get hit by this once or twice, try to stay at 100% health to avoid being 1shot
WINTER WIDOW @lv?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8TZEZyudlI
Frosted Hills
- if you think the game was hard before think again this will be 10x harder, as soon as you enter the area you can be bombarded by 500hp hits
- kiting is your only chance of survival for now, lure 1 monster kill him, rince and repeat
- you can use your basic mana potions but only use the best health ones
- almost all the mirkas have a freeze-slow attack (which I suspect stack) expect to be stuck in place unable to escape
- never ever try to fight a mirka mage as long as there are others mobs around, you will have to escape his ice bolts and run away from his tornadoes, they don't hit once but damage you as long as you stay on them which quickly adds up to 3x your maximum health, for that same reason never fight them in tight quarters but in an open space, if the tornadoes stay on you more than 2-3s you're dead
- don't underestimate the small goblin bowmen they hit hard often from outside/the edge of the screen, receiving 5+ arrows simulteanously can happen
- the netherim mobs have poison resistance so you really need to equip a wand with another type of damage (fire if possible) , glaive won't be very effective against them and some champions have so much resist that your only damage will be that wand
- avoid mirkas for now and try to find the area with netherims or bandits (east and west of the map usually) clearing the frosted hills map now to level up is counter-productive you will either die or waste a ton of potions to survive
- never ever enter the icedeep cave (taking notes quest) the damage done by the boss there is in the range of a lv35 hero, if you plan to survive elite it's not the last time you will have to skip a dungeon-area, lots of them are badly balanced
Slavers' Stockade
- as soon as you are 16 find slaver's stockade (upper quest marker on the map), clear the village, open a portal and go back to town, check the shop inventory, have at least 15-15 potions buy a fire potion then enter slaver's stockade
Boss fight : clear the entrance then lure Kidrik in it, do not walk to his starting positiom as many ninjas will appear and surround you in that room, easier to kill them once the boss is gone
KIDRIK @lv16 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnU6asPeB1Y
Emberscratch Mines
- now either you can try and explore frosted hills or like I usually do go straight for the next key, unlike other classes/builds we are not getting any real damage boost before lv21 so doing the emberscratch mines at 16 or 20 doesn't change much as the mobs will level with you
- buy 2-3 ice armor potions before entering (armor is near useless but better have it anyway)
- kite and kill all the small mobs before trying to fight the grenade throwing goblins
- goblin bowmen kill them first if you can
- don't stay near barrels when they are on fire, the dynamite explosion can also 1-shot you (or another player in elite)
Boss fight : lure him down the stairs then run around the crystals like I do, easiest way to avoid his ice wave attack
KING POGG @lv20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UHaqlQSGfU
Watchweald Temple
- before you enter buy 1-2 poison armor potions (use them on floor 1-2) and 1 electricity armor potion (the minions do electric damage)
- the champions in watchweald all have poison resistance so expect to have a lot of trouble with them, if you do almost no damage to them and don't have a good enough fire-ice-elec wand, just run away and skip that fight
Boss fight : before you enter the arena I would suggest to go back and buy at least 30-30 health mana potions and spam them especially the mana ones you'll want to shoot glaive throw non-stop, dont go anywhere near the regent (he can do 1400hp in 1hit at close range) don't go near the hole in the middle or the giant tentacles will slap you hard, don't kill the regent on the left of the map near the chest it can bug and 1shot you after you "activate" the guardian, oh and try to avoid being hit/shot by the horse-guardian thing it will slow you down a lot
REGENT @lv22 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_wj2yHlEG8
Act1 is where you are likely to die, unlocking cursed daggers at lv21 will greatly improve your survivability and when you reach lv31 and unlock the stone pact 25% damage reflection you will be very hard to kill.
The guides for act 2-3-4 will be shorter, you are going to destroy mobs no need for an in-depth guide ;)
BOSS FIGHTS TILL END OF STORY
It looks like not many people are interested in playing right and min/maxing according to how the game really works instead of what they think/want

so I'll leave you with this video playlist of all the boss fights I did while writing the guide
IN ELITE HARDCORE NO SHARED ITEMS NO CONSOLE NO CHEATS NO MODS
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVnGcNELvFOU0oaBgQYV91b38mboZlOeZ
USEFUL TIPS
This section will be updated as I write the rest of the guide

- never retreat in an unexplored area
- open game settings and enable floating damage text mode : verbose to visualize the amount of damage you receive, big red numbers = run away while you can
- open the arcane statistics, scroll down and check your highest damage received, this will also help you know if your current maximum health is adequate
- if you suddenly loose 90% of your health, run away and go buy items with better +hp, there won't be a 2nd warning
- chest traps are deadly, always activate and run, the fireball ones and ghost sword can easily 1shot you
- have you pet on defensive or passive until you unlock stone pact, you don't want it to attract mobs to you
- bosses summon infinite minions, keep damaging them or risk being overwhelmed by minions and run ouf of potions
2023 videos
I had to delete most of my videos after a problem and to be honest I don't have time to redo them :(
still I remade a glaive outlander from zero in softcore and here is the full playthrough, they show
- how to farm phase challenges
- how to gamble uniques
- how to get the very useful minecraft swords
- how powerful you are after 28 when you unlock stone pact
- me buying and storing items for other builds, for example making a 491dps sword a melee strength hero can equip around lv25-30
- how to buy good blue armor sets like exorcist and sentinel parts in act3-4

I may do the following videos one day but no promises I was in the middle of modding skyrim and this takes all the gaming time I have (not much these days)

this is the top1 outlander of the game and of course it's good for softcore too, the only thing I would say is that this make the game looks very easy, I'm talking multiples of times easier like 10x easier than other builds, this game has a lot of overpowered skills and this build is how arpgs should work but don't anymore skill 1 helps skill 2 helps skill 3 they all work together
Grrrdian 25 maj, 2023 @ 0:52
is this build fine for all modes? I'm totally new, don't want to jump into hardcore just yet. have played D3 and PoE, just wondering if this is fine to try out in softcore/regular.

No worries Horus-fr. Take your time 👍

Hi Horus-fr, couldn't access your youtube videos. It says "This video is unavailable." and "The playlist does not exist.". Are they going to be reuploaded soon?
Horus-fr  [skapare] 26 jul, 2022 @ 3:09
nice to hear, yeah elite can still basically cheat and do damage you shouldn't take at your level, some mobs you do 100k damage to them and they are still alive with 1 pixel hp for some reason, but frankly I played POE, diablo 3, grim dawn, last epoch HC and this is still the most "fair" HC I've seen once you know that armor doesn't work and you need to stack HP and stay away from mobs it's doable, emebermage was the worst class it took me like 20 tries even tough I know by heart the game, your defense is just non existent compared to this outlander
pampushechka 22 jul, 2022 @ 18:58
Complete the game with 4th attempt based on this guide with some changes. It would be first try but i wasn't fully careful and died from some big magic damage. 6.5k hp at the end of the run and stone pact = almost invincible to the bosses. Thanks for the guide (i didn't read all of that, just take the base idea and dance around that) it was helpful. :AnnaOK_nvl:

Thank you very much!! I hope I 'll get lucky enough to get those before I overlevel...
Horus-fr  [skapare] 29 jul, 2021 @ 15:24
the same ones roundheaven 2227 2392 gold 29% block chance shield has nothing better until endgame almost, glorious cast speed sword 2970 3080 3190 can help but not really for glaive throw you'll probably drain your mana even worse and outlander doesnt have a "free mana" power, cast speed is more for shattering glaive or if you have very high mana regen, suicide wand 3410 3520 3630 + roundheaven is what I use the most, if you miss them you can still find 15% cast speed wands or other weapons giving +% poison damage but suicide wand +20% all damage also has no competition, the only weapon that can be better is a 0/255 kills one handed weapon, if you're lucky with the upgrade they can give +35% all damage no unique or legendary has that much
Enferian 29 jul, 2021 @ 2:30
Great guide!
In your Ice Mage guide you had a section about specific low level items to gamble for. Any such suggestions for this build?
