1. Fishing conditions
Fishing conditions can be either terrible or good, depending on the following factors.

Fishing power
- This is the main parameter needed for fishing. It is provided by fishing rods, bait, accessories, the size of the fishing spot, the phases of the moon, luck, armor, mounts, effects, time, weather, and other things that we will discuss further.

The Fisherman's Pocket Guide will help you find out your fishing power.

Fisherman's Pocket Guide Allows you to find out your current fishing power. Obtained: for completing any Fisherman quest. (If you get a Weather Radio, you can turn it into a guide by throwing it into a shimmer).

2. Fishing rods
There are 11 fishing rods in total in the game, each one better than the last

Wooden Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 5% Obtained: 8 wood on workbench
Reinforced Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 15% Obtained: 8 iron bars on anvil
Soul Catcher Fishing power - 20% Obtained: 8 ebonite bars on anvil
Flesh Catcher Fishing power - 22% Obtained: 8 crimtane bars on anvil
Bait Lure Fishing power - 25 Doubles the chance of catching enemies during the Blood Moon. Obtained: from blood moon enemies (can be caught while fishing during the Blood Moon)
Scarab Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 30% Obtained: from oasis box (boxes can be caught while fishing in a specific biome, currently the Oasis)
Fiberglass Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 30% Obtained: in jungle sanctuary
Mechanic's Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 35% Obtained: buy from mechanic (only sold if there is a fisherman in town, or during a certain phase of the moon)
Easy Catch Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 40% Obtained: sold by a traveling merchant (sold only after defeating the Skeletron)
Fire Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 45% Allows you to fish in lava Obtained: aviable after compliting 25 fisher task with 1,33%
Golden Fishing Rod Fishing Power - 50% Obtained: after compliting 30 fisher task
3. Bait
There are a total of 46 pieces of bait in the game, so finding it will not be a problem. I can highlight the easiest way to get bait at any time. First, you need to go to the jungle and find bushes and leaves that are 4 blocks long. You need to break them, and a larva, bug, or slug will drop out. But in order to catch bait, you first need to purchase a net. You can also find lava creatures in hell that you can fish for in lava.

Net
Can catch bait Obtainnig: purchase from NPC Merchant
Heat-resistant net
Can catch hellish creatures Obtaining: combine a scoop and hellish ingots on an anvil
Золотой сачок
Can catch hellish creatures Obtained: Can be obtained as a reward for completing any fisherman's quest with a 1.25% chance.

Below, I will simply insert a table from Wikipedia, because inserting all the bait manually would be madness.
I want to highlight Golden Baits, which are rare golden versions of regular baits with a fishing power of 50%. Also, don't fish without preparation with a Truffle Worm (only available in hard mode, summons a strong boss). And with the help of lava snails, flies, and butterflies, you can fish in lava.
4. Size of the fishing spot
For successful fishing, 75 interconnected blocks of liquid are required (1,000 for the ocean and 50 for honey). The surface area (where the float floats) continues to connect the blocks of liquid as long as they are beneath it.

This image shows global fishing areas. Each part of the world will have different catches, but there are also separate parts of the world:

Ocean
Forest - Underground forest
Desert
Oasis
Winter-Underground winter
Jungle-Underground jungle
Underworld
Corruption
Crimson
Consecration-Underground consecration
Mushroom biome
Floating islands
Lava
Honey

Here is also a table of effects depending on the size of the body of water
5. Phases of the moon
The phases of the moon are an integral part of the game and fishing. There are 8 phases of the moon in total. Depending on the current phase of the moon, your fishing power will either increase or decrease (the phases of the moon also affect many other things, but now we will talk specifically about fishing). You can find out the phase of the moon by its appearance or with the help of a sextant.

Sextant
Shows the current phase of the moon Obtained: Can be obtained by completing any fisherman quest (or if you have obtained a reference book, you can turn it into a sextant)

- Gives +10% fishing power

- Gives +5% fishing power

- Gives nothing

- Gives +5% fishing power

- Gives -10% fishing power

- Gives -5% fishing power

- Gives nothing

- Gives +10% fishing power (blood moon)

6. Weather
The weather also affects many things, but we will talk about fishing. There are two types of weather in the game that can increase fishing power: cloudy and rainy. The weather radio will help you understand what the weather is like right now.
Weather radio
Allows you to find out the current weather and wind speed. Obtained: by completing fisherman quests with a 3.33% chance. (Or, if you have a sextant, you can throw it into the twilight to get a weather radio.)

Cloudy
Cloudy weather increases fishing power by 10%. May start randomly at the beginning of the day.
Дождь
Дождь повышает силу рыбалки на 20% Может случайно начаться на протяжении дня
7. Time
Even during the day, your fishing power indicator can fluctuate, specifically at certain intervals, which I will discuss further. To determine the current time, you will need a pocket watch and its variants (you can also use a stationary clock that can be crafted, but it displays the time in minutes).

Pocket watches show the current time and also come in several types (the best ones are platinum and gold watches) Obtaining: crafts on table with 1 chain and 10 gold/iron/copper and it alternative versions

Here is a table showing the time during which fishing strength either increases or decreases (x1.3- +30% f.p.; x0.8- -20% f.p.).
8. Luck
Luck is another parameter that is not displayed anywhere, but still affects fishing power.

Torches
Luck can be increased by placing a biome torch in the desired biome (for example, a desert torch if you are in the desert); they will increase luck by 0.2.

Ladybugs
If you touch a ladybug that spawned naturally, your luck will increase by 0.2, and if you kill it, it will decrease. The same applies to the golden version, but it will be +0.4 and -0.4.

Night of Lanterns
May start randomly after defeating any boss or invasion, increases luck by 0.3.

Garden Gnome
Gnomes spawn in giant trees, and if they come out into the sun, they turn into a Garden Gnome, which will give a stationary buff like a campfire and increase luck by 0.2.
Coin Luck
If you throw coins into the Twinkle, they will disappear. In return, the coin luck counter of all players within a radius of 1000 pixels (62.5 blocks) will be increased by a number that depends on the amount thrown. One copper coin adds 1 to the counter. The coin luck counter decreases by 0.01% each tick[1] and immediately resets to zero if it reaches a value less than 0.25. According to the table below, the player is given a certain amount of luck:

Accessories with a horseshoe and coin
All accessories crafted using a horseshoe or coin increase luck by 0.05 and also give the same amount of luck to all players within a radius of 800 blocks : that is
Galactic Pearl
You can get it by catching an oyster in the oasis, opening it, and knocking out a pink pearl (there are 3 of them in total), then throwing it into the Twinkle and activating it, thereby increasing your luck by 0.03.
Luck Potions
Luck potions can be crafted using the same pearls. A small luck potion gives 0.01 luck, a regular one gives 0.02, and a large one gives 0.03.

As a result, depending on the player's luck, they can have anywhere from -10% Fishing Power to -40% if their luck is less than 0, and the same in the positive direction.

9. Mount
The game also unexpectedly features a mount that increases your Fishing skill by 5 when you are standing in water. To summon it, you need to buy a Shell Whistle from the Zoologist after filling your bestiary by 25% for 20 gold (there is also an inflatable ring that does the same thing, which can be found in sea chests).
10. Accessories
(I don't know what to write, I slept for 4 hours)
High-Strength Fishing Line
With this accessory, your fishing line will never break. Obtained: Randomly for completing a fisherman's quest.
Fishing Tackle Box
Gives -5% to the chance of wasting bait. Obtained: Randomly for completing a fisherman's quest.
Fisherman's Earring
Gives 10 Fishing Power. Obtained: Randomly for completing a fisherman's quest.
Fishing Tackle
All of the previous accessories can be combined into one, giving the effects of all previous items. Obtained:
Float
Gives 10 Fishing Power, can be made into a glowing float, and can be repainted with moss to your liking. Obtained: by completing the fisherman's quest with a 3% chance. (The Fishing Power buff from floats does not stack, maximum 10).
Lava-resistant hook
Allows you to fish in lava regardless of the rod. Obtained by: fishing an obsidian chest (or its hardmode version) out of lava and knocking out this hook (how to fish in lava is described in the section on rods and bait).
Lava-resistant Tackle
Provides the same effects as regular gear, but allows you to fish in lava. Obtained by:
11. Armor
There is also special armor that increases fishing power and gives nice bonuses.
Fishing Set
Each piece of armor gives 5 fishing power (15 in total). The set bonus reduces the spawn rate of enemies for more comfortable fishing. Obtaining: After completing the 10th, 15th, and 20th fisherman quests, you will receive all pieces of the set.
12. Catch
I apologize, but I will not be inserting all of this. I could, but it would look poor and take a lot of time, so provide the links instead.

13. Potions
There are a total of 3 potions in the game that affect fishing in some way.

Sonar Potion
When the float jerks, it allows you to see what you've caught (useful when you need a rare fish, for example, but you don't have much bait, and you wait until the right fish shows up, letting all the unwanted ones pass so as not to waste bait). Obtained: either for fisherman quests with a 50% chance.

Box Potion
Increases the chance of catching boxes from 10% to 20%. Obtained: Either for fisherman quests if no item has been dropped.
Fishing Potion
Increases Fishing Power by 15. Obtained: Either for fisherman quests with a 33% chance.[/cope]
14. ANGLER
A angler is a NPC that can be found in the ocean. To get him to settle down, you need to wake him up. You can complete one task every day. Tasks are updated at 4:30 a.m., and fish for quests need to be caught in all parts of the world (you can read more details in my guide about NPCs).

(I tried to make a table, but it looks so bad that it's better to just give a link).

15. Other
In addition to everything listed above, there are four more ways to increase your Fishing Power in the game.
Namely, beer, worms, a toilet, and a bucket from a cham-bucket.
Drinking
The Tipsy effect adds 5 to your Fishing Power. This effect can be provided by two items: ale and sake. Obtained: Ale can be bought from the innkeeper, and sake from a traveler if you come across one (see my guide on Nips for how to get an innkeeper).
Marmalade worm
Adds 3 Fishing Power permanently after use Obtained: Throw a golden worm into a shimmer; it can be found during rain or knocked out of a jar of worms
Toilets
If you sit on any toilet (except the golden one), you will get 5 to Fishing Power Obtained by crafting 6 ingots on an anvil (or any other toilet)
Bucket of bait
Increases fishing power depending on how many times it has been thrown into the fishing spot. 1 throw increases fishing power by 11, 2 throws by 17, and 3 throws by the maximum (20). Each cast takes away 1 Fishing Power Obtained: drops from all 5 mobs that can be caught during a blood moon in quantities of 7 to 10 pieces (you can read about fishing during a blood moon in the catch section)
16. God of fishing
So, to maximize fishing power, we need: a fishing spot no less than 300 blocks away, a full moon, rain, a time slot between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., throw a platinum coin into the shimmer and all luck modifiers, while riding a flamingo mount, be in the water (or in an inflatable circle), list of accessories: float, fisherman's earring, fishing tackle, lava-resistant fishing tackle, and 3 other accessories with a horseshoe or coin (7 accessories in total, i.e. on master difficulty with the demon heart activated), full fisherman's outfit, fishing potion, tipsy effect, sit on the toilet, throw a bucket of bait three times at the fishing spot, activate the marmalade worm, use the golden fishing rod, and finally use the Master's Bait (or any golden bait). Voila! Now you are a professional fisherman! As a result, according to my calculations, we get approximately 308 Fishing Power! (You can't sit on the toilet and flamingo at the same time, so choose for yourself).
Thanks for reading!
