How to install Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut on Steam

Download the mod
Go to the official ModDB page and download the mod installer here:

Run the installer
Launch the downloaded EXE file and install the mod to a new folder on your computer.

Rename the folder
After installation, rename the folder where the mod is installed to "AOM" (without quotes).

Move the folder to the Half-Life directory
Move the renamed AOM folder into your Half-Life Steam installation directory, usually:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life

Set launch options in Steam

Open your Steam Library, right-click on Half-Life and select Properties.

In the General tab, find Launch Options and enter:
-game AOM
This tells Half-Life to start the mod instead of the base game.

Start the mod
Now, just launch Half-Life from Steam as usual. The mod Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut will run automatically.

It may appear in the Steam library later as a separate game.

Important update for Steam compatibility:
If you experience issues after the Steam 25th Anniversary update:

Right-click Half-Life in Steam, go to Properties > Betas tab.

Select the beta version named: steam_legacy - pre 25th Anniversary Build
This fixes compatibility problems with the mod.
