Description
Better Boxes
Changes the way the drop system works to allow new boxes to spawn. The scaling mirrors the shop rarities scaling[brotato.wiki.spellsandguns.com], but with an additional offset of +5 waves added on (Since boxes are rare in general). While this won't have a massive impact on the rarity of the boxes it does mean that with the right amount of luck some runs could get a good kick start.

Functionality of the boxes is similar to the legendary box. The legendary box only gives its own tier, so in relation to that the corresponding added tiers only give loot from there tier.

Location: %appdata%/Brotato/mod_config/BetterBoxes.json

If the file doesn't exist make sure you've at least launched the game once with this mod installed. If it still doesn't exist resubscribe and then launch the game (You may have been on an older version if that's the case).

Version: Don't touch this setting, it exist so that the file will auto replace itself in future updates

  • wave_offset : Controls the rarity chance of the boxes, in general higher number = higher rarity Default: 5
  • remove_box_per_wave_limit: Removes the diminishing return effect of collecting multiple boxes Default: False
  • luck_multiplier: Multiplies the luck recognized by the box creation code only, this will result in more boxes dropping if raised to a higher value than 1. This will not increase the rarity of the boxes however Default: 1

Encountering Bugs?
Visit the workshop from Steam itself, unsubscribe to this mod (and maybe others), then re-subscribe to it. This fixes an issue where Steam doesn't automatically update mods.

Leave a comment about the issue and it will be fixed at some point.

Okay, so I think the issue with using CL/Brotils for me was that I didn't have the Abyssal Terrors DLC, which is stupid, but anyways.

Can confirm that WAY too many crates drop, and the color of the crate doesn't correlate with what you get at all.

Unfortunate that this cannot be used anymore, given that ContentLoader/Brotils is COMPLETELY borked.

This mod is horribly overpowered. Even if you put it to wave ofset 1, luck 0.1 it still spams you with additional boxes

Makes it less OP. Reduce the 3 and 0.34 further to balance it to your needs, gardens are still OP though.

So I came here to comment something, and realized someone else had also mentioned it. It seems any time a consumable would spawn there's a chance for it to be a loot crate. This ends up being ridiculously overpowered with gardens. Also, you end up with a TON of loot at the end, and the items end up taking more time than the actual round itself.

I would suggest options for both of these issues. The ability to turn off loot crates from gardens, and some sort of "take all" or "salvage all" options. Perhaps with something like "Salvage all non-unique/legendary". Just a thought. Great work on the mod, hope you keep it up! :-)

It spawns boxes out of gardens as well. and they dont count for the bag item. you can get 70+ boxes in one round with gardens. thats a bit OP i guess xD
