Metal Gear 1 MSX: you definitely need a guide on where to get some mandatory item as the game is too open ended, its ahead of its time but still very clunky

Metal Gear 2 MSX: now this where the fun begins. Its basically mgs1 in terms of level design and item placement. 90% of the time you don't need to look at a guide at all as there's enough clue from the codec. The Boss battle and story are also vastly improve from metal gear 1. Super fun game and way wayyyyyyyy ahead of its time, aged really well compared to MG1

This game is still better than 99% AAA game released today. Incredible gameplay loop and environment, still the best monster hunter even if Rise and Wilds existed. The Iceborne expansion is worth it and almost as big as the base game
