Also it's a common day in America where people die from gunfire so I'm sure it's all fine and dandy to them, I think that if those guards had extra set of weapons on top of set of weapons that would keep them safe!

What do you mean buy "sadly" ? It was bound to happen, they were there to catch a bullet to call more reinforcments - from the start, that was just ... bound to happen.
