IF he completed the series perhaps, but since it ended before the end of the trilogy, no. He did follow the books pretty close, but everyone seems to hate the adventures of the hobbits before meeting Strider.

That being said, the hobbit cartoon was better than the movie the hobbit, which is a real shame all things considered.

Honestly it looks like Peter Jackson just straight up copied that ♥♥♥♥. Then he also remade King Kong. Dude is just a fat grifter lol.

Copied? You know it's based on the books right? Of course it's copied. But still to much artistic licence. I cringe at the scene where Legolas slides off the Trunk of an Oliphant. Also, missing are the barrow wights and Bombadil.

I don't know about better, but I certainly enjoyed Bakshi's version.
Although it was disappointing that he never did the second movie.

How about both? I can see your perspective, but Peter Jackson knocked it out of the park in sooo many ways.
