I robot and I am Legend.
I saw the film yesterday. I must say it is a valid warning to humanity about the risks of robots evolving to the point where the laws of protecting life could be abused.
In seeking to do what is right, we might end up doing something wrong. I understood that part very well. I liked how Sonny proved that it's never too late to make amends, though. That was a most touching part of the project.

"Mediocre" is generous.
I am Legend, even though they screwed it up, was still ok. bad CGI, ruined the ending, but still kinda sorta ok.
That ending tho, changes the whole theme. Hell the title doesn't make sense without it.
oh I 100% agree.
Imo though the future is more Gamer and Surrogates mixed with Demolition Man.
But I did think it was entertaining anyway.
The Oracle will take care of you.
That was 1968.
The idea of a computer/AI taking over for everyone is a lot older than iRobot (even the source material). AI/Computer takeovers have been a concept since the at least the 1900's, but arguably, earlier.
The Machine Stops[en.wikipedia.org] being one of the first instances of human dependence on machines.
Samuel Butler's Erewhon[en.wikipedia.org] could probably be considered the first instance of "Machines taking over", but it's kind of hazy as to whether or not in a modern context, this is the same thing as our concept of "AI taking over." Plus, it only very briefly touches on the subject.
Anyway.
