how to prevent packet loss and lag on a wifi extender
on my old pc, i can play with a extender just fine. I upgraded to a rtx 5090 pc and all the sudden it cannot read wifi signals and is solely reliant on being connected to the router. My current cercumstances has me rely on a wifi extender instead. While I can now work just fine on it, when I game, I get lag and packet loss out the wazoo.

you would think a huge upgrade from a rtx 2060 pc to a 5090 will be so much better but it cannot even work properly without being on a router.

your extender must be at least a wifi-6 or wifi-7, if it's older it won't work good

Have you tried an Ethernet cable?

Switch bands. i.e. 2.4, 5, 6.

Also, within those bands you can switch channels. Both of these are done by logging into your router/gateway.

I don't deal with Wi-Fi crap on desktops, I apologize.

Use a long >= CAT6 ethernet cable and a wired switch, if possible.

A Wi-Fi network analyzer. For example, WiFi Analyzer. Or others...
Some channels may be occupied by other Wi-Fi network users. You need to switch your router to free channels.
