Changing everything from Dark Mode back to normal seems to improve my mood and ability to stay awake.
Does anyone else notice this kind of thing? I don't know if it's a bunch of woo or not, but it seems to be working.

Interesting how its a mode that does this.

Sitting in front of a spotlight would help you stay awake too. But screw that.

Well, yeah, the increased signal down the optic nerve jolts the brain directly.

explain mood?

More energised, alert, less lethargic.

Big.

Big mood.

How do I stop the text from imprinting on my retinas if I don’t use dark mode?

I mean, it could work, maybe, but it's more likely to just give you eye strain and a headache.

If you're going to change your physical surroundings though in an effort to be less sleepy on your PC, you should shift the light wavelength of your monitor closer to blue.

Blue light is close to UV light and it'll 'trick' your brain into thinking it's daytime, making you more awake (or at the very least, harder to fall asleep).

I'm dubious on the efficacy of the findings, but there's a lot of studies saying that light exposure from screens has a large impact on your circadian rhythm, alertness, and subsequent sleep quality by affecting your intrinsically photosensitive Retinal Ganglion Cells (ipRGCs)[en.wikipedia.org], which are most sensitive to the blue-light spectrum and regulate the production of melatonin.

Personally, I think if you want to improve your energy levels, alertness, and lethargy, then your computer screen is only a tiny part of that. You'd be much better off taking the time to analyze your psychological health, your physical health and your diet.
