Why are US sports so boring???
Idk if you guys feel the same but what’s wrong with major US sports? Are people really this desperate for slow motion and snacks? I know that gluttony is sacred in the lands of flowing butter and sugar, but still…

Baseball is literally watching people stand, chew, spit, adjust gloves, stare at nothing and then maybe someone jogs to a base. That’s it. I’ve seen more action in a chess tournament. They don't even look like athletes, most of them have a belly.......

And lets not forget about the national treasure, the NFL... The “sport” is basically an excuse to stuff your face with wings, nachos, and beer while pretending to watch a game. The actual football action? About 5 minutes per 3-hour broadcast with 4 hours of advertisement in between. Everything else is commercials, replays, and people walking around.

Seriously, in the US it feels like overeating is the national pastime, and the sports are just a sideshow for your stomach.
Can someone explain to me how people get entertained by this? Or do Americans just watch it to justify eating 5 pounds of food at once?

I’m ready for the hate, but someone convince me there’s actually a sporting reason to watch this… because right now it just looks painfully boring.

Even the NBA sucks. 7 timeouts per team? Give me a break.
I know, you can use that time to shovel food down your gullet again.......

warning: bait thread
Not really a sports fan myself but I can see why a lot of people are into it. Sometimes I’m in a table and they passionately talk about sports like they studied it all their life. And I’m just there sitting awkwardly because idk what the heck they’re talking about.

Not that I’m one to talk because I like anime. I’m not bashing on sports fans. I’m just saying it as it is.

At least American sports have variety and options to choose from.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I think it’s really all about group identity the feeling of belonging to something bigger. And in all these snack breaks, like timeouts, halftime, and the thousands of commercial breaks, people can mingle, gossip and talk about all sorts of stuff.

Honestly, at this point I’m not even sure it counts as a sport anymore. If you spend 3 hours siting down, pausing every few seconds, and mostly watching ads while occasionally someone runs 10 yards… is it really about the game, or just a socially acceptable way to eat mountains of food with friends? xD

It’s like the real game is who can survive the snack buffet and still remember what the scoreboard says.

Yeah, right, variety… you know, the real choice is between shoving wings, hot dogs, pizza, or other junk food down your gullet during all those breaks.

At this point I’m pretty sure the “sport” is just surviving the snack buffet.
are handeggs really made out of pig skin?
I'm pretty sure basketball matches have a limited number of time outs.
Watching any sport is the most boring thing I can imagine, American or not.
Do not redeem, saar

At least we can afford food. We don't have to choose between eating and owning a car, or having air conditioning.

i want to watch professional basketball one day even though literally nobody plays it in my country. i played some basketball video games growing up, and have seen it in a lot of films and such.

its kind of boring how often they score, but thats also kind of exciting i guess because its like a constantly tug of war.

Well, I wouldn’t exactly call those genetically modified, fat-filled, sugar-infested “edibles” real food, not to mention the factory farming and processed meats that are causing all kinds of ulcers, tumors and whatnot otherwise you wouldn’t be one of the most obese countries on the planet, woudln't you agree?
I've seen so many Americans visit Europe and be completely baffled at how the food quality, especially in Western Europe, surpasses US food quality by far. It's a day and night difference, ask anybody.

I know this must sound crazy to some of you guys over the pond, but you can actually say no to food. If someone puts a plate of deep fried chicken in front of you, just say :
“No thanks, I’d like to make it to 30.” But hey, that’s just me. xDD

We're not one of the most obese countries on the planet. And unlike your country, the rate here is actually going down. So good luck with that narrative.
Watching sports is kinda boring anyway. Do you think Hornussen or Schwingen is better?
to me. all sports are dreadfully dull.

however, if others like them then im glad they do.
