Labour UK to fix broken borders
The plans include a Trump-style visa ban on African nations that refuse to take back people who have entered the UK illegally.

Among the changes touted are the route to settlement, which allows immigrants to claim benefits, being increased from five years to 20 years.

Are these changes enough to fix Britain's broken border system?

I call this all BS... we have heard all this before and nothing changes, period. It's just all talk as usual. For anything meaningful to happen in the UK over immigration, you need a strong leader like trump, nothing more, nothing less.
obviously, stopping legal immigrants and tourists is the perfect way to fight illegal immigration 🤓

Labour are finished if they don't fix the borders.
If they arrive on a rubber boat from France, they should be returned to France (it would be better if they returned to their country of origin, but since France is complicit in their unauthorized migration you might as well return the favor)

I can tell you now, neither will labour or the conservatives fix the UK border.

The only way to fix it is to leave the ECHR.

+1 :-)
Where's the change that devotes the actual money and manpower to enacting all this? Because that's also part of the problem, and this government are absolutely terrified of committing either resource.

Which is why the biggest policies they've introduced have been banning free refills at fast food joints, and making porn really hard to access, as they cost nothing. Other than popularity.

In conclusion I'm quietly confident now that Starmer is so stupid, he'll decide after this he's amazingly popular as a result, and call a snap election. I can't think of anything else that would be more suitably dumb.
They plan to ban Congo and Dominican Republic, but not Pakistan. Obviously won't do ♥♥♥♥ about illegals.

The start of another backbench rebellion?

Around 20 Labour MPs so far have publicly expressed the opposition to the government's plans to overhaul the asylum system to reduce illegal immigration, and make the UK less attractive.

Some even voiced their views in the House of Commons last night - Nadia Whittome MP called Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's plans "dystopian" and "shameful", and pointed out they enjoyed the support of far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

Richard Burgon MP said she should change course now rather than be forced into a U-turn later, and Olivia Blake MP told Sky News the policies were "cruel" and "inhumane".
As per the cults problem reaction solution template

I don't usually get involved in political threads, but border controls are a joke in the UK, we pay France around 40 Million pounds a week to control their side, it was obvious what would happen, to keep that money coming in the illegal immigration sky-rocketed, something the politicians never seen or chose to ignore.

Honestly, I'd get rid of all the politicians and start afresh, I think they're all a waste of space. They promise the earth and deliver nothing!

Edit:
I stand corrected, the official figure:

The UK pays France approximately £500 million annually to control immigration

UKBF oscillates wildly between experienced ex-cop types who know what they're doing and even have a sense of humour, jobsworths who Just Do The Job, and somewhere in the middle, idiots dredged up from the nearest JobCentre Plus who treat your entry attempt like you're trying to apply for Universal Credit despite being a talking dog or something.

Which I hope indicates I have some degree of experience in how the legal side of it is also a joke.
cant they just vote for their usual right wing party and finish it off with brexit already.. Ukistan done for, abandon ship! Go set sail to their holyland, russia.
what will you guys across the pond call ICE?
