Do We All Still Believe in Myths?
Sometime i told myself im done with illusions. No more fairy tales, no more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
But when everything feels heavy, when im alone at midnight staring at the ceiling, these sentences slip out on their own
“If I keep going, it has to get better, right?”
“Everything happens for a reason, right?”
“Theres someone out there who will finally make this emptiness stop, right?”
I know theyre probably lies.
Ive seen enough proof that life doesnt work that way.
But I still whisper them like prayers, because admitting it might all just be random and pointless hurts so much more.
Its embarrassing. I feel like a kid clinging to a broken toy.
But letting go of those myths feels like letting go of the last bit of warmth I have left.
(Im not claiming im right or anything, just sharing whats been in my mind)

Anyone else?
What do you think?
I want to know your opinion about this.

If you believe in something, then you don't really call it a myth. Myth is a word for people who don't believe in the concept they are describing as mythological.

Believing in fairy tales and myths isn't a bad thing. It encourages emotional resilience and encourages hope and being good in many cases. I grew up with this belief or at least aimed to live that way and never felt happier.

To live, no.

But to accomplish something it's a must.
People with no hope is just dead inside and will never have motivation to do anything.

Freedom is the greatest of myths.

Or should we learn to let go of everything and accept life as it is?
Let go. . . Let go of everything. :steamhappy:

Thats good point, actually.
When we believe in something, we usually call it “hope,” “faith,” or just “truth,” right? The word “myth” only shows up when we’re looking at it from the outside or when we've started to doubt it a little.
But thats exactly what hit me.
I still catch myself clinging to these ideas even though part of me already suspects they might not hold up.
So to that tiny doubting part of me, theyre already starting to feel like myths but the rest of me isnt ready to let go yet

Fairy tales have a hint of truth though don't they? I've always felt that way especially with Fae ones. Also akin to how I don't think there is anything mystical about tarot cards but they can still be good at making you think on a problem. It's also nice to have a bit of whimsy.

Idk if you'd call it a myth but I'm also a burnt toast theory kind of person.

their origins have some truth in them, usually morals or cultural knowledge the storyteller of the fairy tale was wishing to impart. like "do not go out after dark, lycans roam the woods." indeed, there are wolves. but sometimes that is not scary enough to be dissuading the mischievous from doing foolish things.

sometimes lessons need to be taught, stories of consequences and darker things beyond human understanding.
