The use of autopen is not, and has never been, a problem.
The use of autopen with absolutely no evidence that the President was even aware of what the autopen was used for is, and has always been, the issue.

As long as the President gives the go-ahead for the use of autopen then everything is fine.
When the President doesn't know the autopen is being used, by who or for what purpose then we have an enormous issue.

Because the executive authority has not been vested on the almighty autopen but on the individual sitting in the Oval Office.

Cool story, bro. Trump regularly confuses people, names and places. I would not trust him to be fully aware of what is going on either. Recently, when he made the suggestion about 50 year mortgages, he probably thought, that 50 is a biglier number than 30 and therefor must be good, without actually understanding, what it meant. He can be easily manipulated.

Trump was never protected from a criminal charge because he was too senile to understand what was happening. Biden was. That's the difference.

Again, the House Oversight Committee has clearly stated that their investigation revealed that

The evidence is plain for all to see.

Just as the evidence that Trump was in fact aware of what had been signed by autopen given he confirmed those pardons himself and even re-affirmed them by signing new ones by hand.
