Do YOU consider this a tip or a FEE?
*Including tips as part of the customer's bill* rather than making that an optional thing, as if they are forcing customers to pay extra even though they don't want to (like, why?). Can stores or businesses really coerce customers to tip against their will or is that practice illegal?

There's a difference between a tip & fee, since a tip remains optional for the client while a fee is something clients are required to pay upfront before or after they have utilized the service. "Tipping" in America is NO LONGER "giving a tip" more like "you have to pay this fee".

A tip is something that you choose to give if service not only meets your expectations, but also exceeds them. Yeah, that's just a fee.

a social fee... one that if I'm not under the social constraint of "treating someone" I'm happy to reject...

hilarious drive thrus thought they could demand tips though... like ya, I'm going to tip you for pulling a cold burger off the rack and shoving it in a bag lmfao!

Learn how to cook better at home.

Or don't complain about tips.

I don’t eat out and even when I do I make stuff in the fly. I have a sandmaker in my car and I connect it to an external power source so I can make a panini.

if you've had issues, you can always call a manager, explain the issue and have the tip removed.

however, I'd only do this for a real situation, not just "but I don't wanna tip".

that being said, if you know a place includes the tip by default, just don't go there.

damn boy, I want one of those! If we combine our powers, we can make so much SAND and fill a BEACH!

If they don't allow me to choose how much the tip is I consider it a fee.

It is MY responsibility to decide to give a tip ... not the company or people working there.

That said, I always leave a tip of my choosing. I was a waiter at one point in time.
