saw a vid of someone installing it for the first time and this happened
problem was their card was too new
when they installed a 5000 series amd it booted right up
they got a few errors because it still thinks it is a handheld, but everything worked
It wouldn't work on a new gpu, since SteamOS, the deck version, uses an older kernel and older GPU drivers. So, older gpu like amd 5000 series, it will boot up.
But the problem is, the deck version isn't actually the pc version of SteamOS. It's the Steam Deck build, which isn't meant for general hardware. That’s why compatibility is all over the place.
no doubt
it most definitely not ready for the regular user
but there are a lot of people doing it just to try it out
been fun watching how it goes.
i will try it as soon as they get it to where i can pick the drive it install to
