Ryzen 5 5600G vs 5600
So I wanna swap my 5600G for a 5600 due to the fact that the non-G has double the L3 cache (16 vs 32MB).
Is it worth it for online gaming or will a swap be of insignificant difference?

Most games see improved performance from more cache (and inversely, lower performance from less). Whether it helps in specific scenarios in specific games is going to vary.

Unless the difference between the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 is massive (I haven't checked pricing of them recently), I'd instead look towards a 5700X, 5800X, or 5800 XT depending on pricing between the three. Between RAM prices being high, and a platform upgrade to AM5 probably not being as worthwhile if you don't have a faster GPU, then staying on AM4 may makes sense. But I'd try and add some cores with the cache to make it a little more worthwhile.
maybe 5-10% difference when not gpu bound

not worth it

imho spend a bit more for the 5700 for 2 more cores and higher boost clocks
but it may also be limited by the board if has a weak vrm config or without vrm heatsinks

fast ram can also make a difference if its slow/generic with low freq amd/or high timings

but if the gpu is at 95+% load all the time, a better gpu would help more

faster cpu is only really needed for higher fps games, if the display is 60hz, it doesnt take much
but for a 180+hz it takes about 3x the cpu performance

Yes but make sure it's the 5700X, not 5700 or 5700G. The 5700 is just a 5700G without the IGP so it lacks cache too.

5500, 5600G, 5700, and 5700G are the models with half cache.

X3Ds have triple cache.

The rest have the baseline amount for the generation (32 MB per CCD, so 32 MB for Ryzen 7 and below and 64 MB for Ryzen 9).

IMO the 5600 is about $135 USD, and the 5800x is still $175

Gets you a lot more beef for a mere $40 more... x3d are sadly priced out by now. If you are into large MMOs this is probably what you want for sure.

It's really not worth it for only 32MB cache. Just be happy with what you have.
since no one actually asked

Where are you from and what currency do you use?
people always just assume the US here unless specifically stated otherwise

it'll completely depend on the price of this upgrade and better yet what your budget is.

Probably because it's not relevant

Going from a 5600G to a 5600 or even a 5800XT just isn't worth it unless you're paying basically nothing because the performance difference is not going to be much, especially if you don't have a particularly great GPU
I'm in Greekistan and the 5600 is actually cheaper than the 5600G I have now (G is at 175€ and non-G is at 130€).But since to see a noticable performance increase means changing from Zen3 to Zen4 and above It seems it's not worth it.I'm not gonna spend 200€ for 30 fps.
