It's not officially for sale yet, so you'll have to wait for any of the fine print.
Ha! Soon running Crysis in microwave screens will be the new Doom runs of everything.
Core 2 Duo and 8800GTX could run Crysis so yes it can, it's light years faster than that.
I prefer the cheap "analogue" microwaves. More than enough to heat up soup.
But Steam Cube's existence may convince some developers to add Linux support to their games.
the cube's boring in comparison to the other hardware they've announced, but the price will make or break this thing. according to valve it'll be "priced similarly to an entry-level PC" so we just have to wait and see
The cube is just a "cheap" mini PC that will come with steamOS. It was never going to be groundbreaking since we already have PCs with steamOS or steamOS look alike.
Or at least I hope it's going to be cheap. My xbox series s 1TB cost me 275 euros (with 1 controller) 2 years ago. Comparing to a "decent" PC at prices from 2 years ago it was an amazing deal (although right now the xbox ecosystem just turned to trash). If steam can keep this at below 600 euros (with at least one controller) it just might get decent sales. Actually, I just finished (except for replacing fans) a budget PC for my kiddo and it came at 450 euros (except that I decided to change the fans so, a little bit more) with no controller. If the steam deck is more or less the same (haven't checked the full specs yet) it could be a good deal. Not for me personally since I like to tinker and can fully assemble a PC, so better stick to micro ATX since I can change and upgrade parts.
Now, one thing they actually need to do is advertisement. I didn't see than much advertisement of steam deck. Obviously we see it at steam, but other than that it's mostly bloggers and youtubers. That doesn't really travel to the general public.
It says it can play most, and that is true. But it also says you have to check for the "steam hardware verified" badge. Destiny 2 WILL NOT WORK. Bungie has no interest in opening the game up to the linux community as their kernel level anti cheat as not compatible and they dont want to spend money to make it compatible, like most kernel level anti cheat. So Im sure you can already see where this is going, that the majority of games with kernel anti cheat will not work on this. The only 2 exceptions I am aware of is The Finals and Borderlands 4, both which use kernel anti cheat and both are Linux compatible.
