I would like to have an option that requires people to type in a short message about how they know me in real life, which will appear with the friend request. Then I can decide whether to accept or not. I do have actual friends that I'd like to add to my list, but there's currently no way to know who somebody is unless they tell me outside of Steam, and not everybody thinks to tell me outside of Steam to look for a friend request within Steam.

As a developer with games on Steam, this is particularly important, because even though I love my players, I don't want to have a friends list that includes a bunch of people I don't know in real life.
