What is the difference between community ban and forum ban? + other questions about Steam bans
Hey, so I was banned today for 24 hours from one games community hub due to one disrespectful commend, and I started to think that what is the real difference between a community ban and forum ban?

Since my ban affects one community hub only, I'm guessing that this is the forum ban that I have, right? If I get community banned, would I be able to make this discussion, or is community ban the same as forum ban?

Also, let's say that I accidentally broke rules on some other community hub, would I get banned straight away without getting warning first due to me already having one ban on my record, even if it happened on completely different community hub? (I already got warned one time few months ago on the same community hub, and today I got my self banned for 24 hours)

And if community ban and forum ban are different, how does someone get community banned? Can multiple forum bans result in getting community banned, and if so, how much will it restrict me on Steam?

Also sorry if this was wrong place to ask about this. I wasn't quite sure but wanted to ask because I wasn't sure. Also Google really didn't give me straight answer to this, but maybe I just Googled it wrong. :smileduck:

A forum ban just prevents you from posting in a specific forum or set of forums.

A community ban forbids you from using ALL community features, including marketplace and trading and affects ALL games.

If you get a game hub ban from multiple game hubs in a short amount of time, you will get an automatic community ban.

Okay that is good to know! So I wont get community banned if I got banned today, and let's say that I repeated the same mistake later next year and get banned again on some other community hub? Community bans always happens only if there are multiple bans in a short amount of time? Obviously I have to be more careful because of todays commend that got me banned, but I was bit scared about if they will give community bans only after few bans or something.

Not exactly. A community ban does not have the same effect as a VAC or game ban. You can still join VAC protected matches and games that use the game ban infrastructure won't prevent you from joining any match unless you truly have a game ban.

I see. Does community ban prevent users adding new friends, and if so can you still send messages to already existing friends?

Btw does my ban on some specific community hub affect later possible bans if they happen on some other completely different community hub? For example, my ban was 24 hours from the Sonic Racing CrossWorlds community hub, so if I were to break rules on Counter Strikes community hub, would I get warning as first punishment, or would they give me right away longer ban than my 24 hour ban from Sonic Racing CrossWorlds community hub?
