Steam not remembering size and location

I've had this problem for a while now. And every solution I've found while googling have not fixed the problem. So now I'm asking here to see if anyone have had this problem and know how to solve it.

Everything I exit steam and start it again, in any way shape or form be it just exiting or restarting my pc, steam defaults back to its original size and location on my monitor. Same with the friends list (which is in the middle of the steam application). So I have to move the friends list, and move and resize the main steam window to my liking everytime I start my PC. Which is getting a tad bit annoying after a couple of months.

Edit: Steam is the only application that does this. Everything else remembers its location on my monitors, as well as its size.

So has anyone had this problem, or know of a solution to it that doesnt involve:

Turning on and off the Steam beta (not running it currently)
Deleting the package folder in the steam directory
Trying to have Steam scaling text and icons to match monitor settings (both off and on)
Deleting the localconfig.vdf file

These are the things that I can remember that I've tried. Pretty sure I've done something else as well over the past many months. But its the only ones I can remember from the top of my head.

First thing comes to mind, do you use the Exit / close Steam> at the running tasks bottom right side of the dekstop, rightclick Steam and exit that is the correct method and will save your settings or do you just press X to close it. Settings will not be saved.

I have exited Steam from the steam menu AND the task menu. Still reverts to its original location and size :(

Same issue for me and I tried all of the above. My library list stays in the correct spot but not the Friends list.

Quit the Steam client completely (via Steam → Quit Steam).

Make sure the steam.exe process isn't running in Task Manager.

I've got this too. Though in my case specifically, size IS preserved but position is NOT.

Been happening for a few weeks now, none of the usual tricks work to keep it where it should be. Keep hoping its just a bug and a client update will eventually fix it but no luck so far.

i have the problem too, but for me it remembers the location but not the size.
(i always shutdown steam by turning off the pc btw)

I just finished fresh installing 25H2 and am now seeing this same behavior. I'm not sure if it's related to 25H2, but I don't recall having this issue with previous versions.

okay little update guys, i switched to a custom version of windows (windows-X-Lite), much smaller (5GB installed XD), much faster because no unseful programs, and steam remember now size and position, but only when closing from tray/steam->shut down steam
if i shutdown steam by turning off the PC, it doesn't remember the size, only the position

I'm running the same thing (25H2 v2) and this is when I actually started having issues. Interesting. (Yes, closing via Exit from SysTray.)

Yeah but i'm not on the 25h2 Vé, but on the 24h2 Pro V4.6, not sure if this changes a lot tbh

This was stated to have been fixed in in the Nov 17th update. My friends windows now remembers position, but the main window still defaults to default position upon restarting client.
