Steam Support is HORRIBLE!
I had issues logging in and submitted a trouble ticket on Wednesday March 20th, 2024. After 48 hours I had still not heard anything and started to go through a list of old passwords. Finally, found the correct one to log in to my account.

However, in 48 hours - no reply, no communication, nothing. I missed out on the sale of the game because their tech support is nothing but a bunch of people with Cheeto/Dorito dust on their fingers, playing WOW, in their basement with their poop bucket.

Ridiculous to say the least...

Whenever a major sale is going on, there always is a big increase in support tickets, which means response times are longer.

That said, was the ticket still open? If it's closed quickly without actual response, the account is compromised.

Not getting an answer in ten minutes does not mean support is bad.
It just means your impatient.
Little bit of patience goes a long way.

They ARE and always have been slow. And depending on who one gets, the "support" you do get varies from bad on up.One rep will say one thing, another will say something else.I've had to go thru 4-5 reps on one issue alone until I finally got someone with enough know how to really help me.Other times I never really get any satisfying answer as they love to push your problem either back to you or to the game makers. It can never ever be Steam 's fault can it?

So you didn't manage your account very well, couldn't use any of the self-recovery options, made a support ticket and are gobsmacked that there were other people ahead of you in the support queue? You should have been given the highest priority because you wanted to buy something?

You're telling yourself quite a story there to make yourself feel better. So what do you think you'll do in the future? Better account management, or a new round of outrage around support queues and sale dates?

Regrettably, you are very much correct.

My experience has been nothing but bot replies followed by a real person artfully dodging you and refusing to fix problems, despite having admitted to being due to their own fault.

Locking tickets without solving (or even attempting to) and warning you not to make any more tickets on said topic is pretty rude too, in my opinion.

Overall, it's very disappointing.

Kinda seems like abuse of support and you don't like being told they don't exist to entertain you. Don't like being told no. Or being told the conversation is over. And you don't like the idea they don't require your approval to say either.

That is not my definition of entertainment.
If that is what you think, so be it.

Good thing we use https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entertain instead of random, narrow, and incorrect definitions.

i seem to be quite lucky about support then. i almost never had an unresolved issue

Steam support ONLY handles Steam account and billing issues.
Game issues are not handled by Steam support, you need to contact the devs of the game to get support.

I wouldn’t bother with that either. The return policy is asinine, 2 hours play time for all games or 14 days. If you run into an inconsistent error or crash and try to fix it you’ll be over the time limit and they’ll drop an automated “beyond the refund policy” response. Then when you call them out for it, they copy paste some scripted non-answer and close the ticket. Just refund through your bank. May take longer because you’ll have to wait for it to post but better than dealing with absentee “support”.

And kiss goodbye to using that payment method to buy games in future. Doing a chargeback is not good advice.
