Funny enough, I've got the same issue with the UI. When joining someone else session, I only see the controller button to push (A on Xbox) & that's it. Normally it shows text like Let's Go or something like that & text for what button to hold to bring up the Steam guide popping up on the left side. Of course, none of that shows up anymore which is annoying.

My full specs on my profile & I'm running Steam as admin atm.

Seems to be happening in the last week which just happens to be when the Steam client updated.

Reinstalling Steam over the top of Steam & going into the beta client doesn't resolve the issue.

same, except my remote play audio is also completely broken; same steps. God why can't steam stop doing ♥♥♥♥ updates

i have this thing also, and i have no idea why
i tried to reinstal steam before i saw this post, it worked for like 2 mins
then it crashed and back to that thing again
do you think its because of my bad wifi or only that steam is giving some SUPER updates

Also just experienced this connecting to my wife’s pc.

I'm getting this issue as well with my partner - it seems googling it this has happened multiple times to a lot of people in the past so it looks like we might have to wait until an update fixes it which is somewhat annoying but can't be helped.

EDIT: My partner managed to get it working for us if this helps anyone

He hosted as normal, when the game loaded he opened the shift tab steam overlay and then close it again once I was in the game. That seemed to solve the issues.

I had to uninstall and reinstall Steam client to fix the problem.

Same problem here. It was working fine 1 year ago with Windows 7 and MacOS, but now the text has gone with Windows 10
