Gaming is so trash now
single-player ruined by politics & same ol' open world trash
multiplayer ruined by rigged matchmaking manipulating/EOMM

take me back to 2007

You know, you could simply play different games. Not every SP game is open-world to begin with and of those, not every is the same boring formula rehearsed for the upteenth time. There's multiplayer games not suffering from rigged matchmaking. But hey, why actually do anything when you can rant, amirite?

Top played games in 2007.
Half Life 2: Episode 2. Soaked in politics.
Mass Effect, very heavy in politics.
The Witcher, same thing... But open world.

I mean the list goes on and on.

These types of games have existed for quite a while.

No issues finding good or great games here!

cherrypicking arent we

and strawmanning
By listing the top played games, is cherry picking? How so? What were your top games in 2007 that had zero politics and no open world?

I actually don't know what you mean by politics now. I just play games I enjoy, and not play games I don't enjoy.

The joys of gaming, you pick and choose games that you like, it's not like you're forced to buy games you don't enjoy.

Every formula is inherently overdone because the digital gaming landscape has been around a long time now.

I'm still enjoying it.

there is no variety anymore , so theres no where to pick and choose from. its gotten so bad that people consider indie games as a legitimate substitute.
I mean, there's some very awesome indie games. Sounds more like you're burnt out, why not just chill a little, explore some game reviews or playthroughs to see what looks good to you to try?

same, glad to just enjoy media and put forth serious concern towards real world issues.

We know. And we also know why you call it 'politics' instead of calling it by its name.

You're definetly looking at the wrong places. I've never had so many different games to play as nowadays. Back in my day we had a single game to play the whole year and we were thankful.

You don't like all the battleroyales with battle passes, dlcs, subscriptions? Guess you ain't a real gamer then.

At least you can mod single player games to remove agendas that you don't support...

That's why I've been playing older games. Not only on Steam but also on my dusty PS3 & PSP. Despite their age and abuse they still going. Lots of good games I missed due to my addiction to CoD.

PS3/360 was by far the best generation , i’ve been playing games from that generation too. they don’t make them like this anymore, games are so watered down now

You seem to be in a constant state of denial, the link between politics and the downfall of AAA western gaming is very well documented now and the list of failed multi-million dollars projects due to the developers trying to inject divisive and hateful political views is very, very long.

Back in my day we only got one game a year too but that had nothing to do with the amount games released and everything to do with the fact that I was a child and my parents were the ones paying for said games, there has always been a huge variety of games since at least the late 70’s so it’s a nonsensical point to even bring up.

While the OP might be up for debate, I actually share the sentiment for different reasons, kinda? I think we are getting too old for video games. So many games to choose but somehow less games, energy and time to play... like making choices causes fatigue or something.
